Evoms CAI fitted! Now with added engine cover.

try the toyo r1's great all round tyre :)

That's almost a grooved slick! :)

Like the R888,I don't think I'd fancy that on a wet road too much....

To put it simply....... if you want to do stage2+ safely and on the cheap fit a D/P (mated to the stock cat back as mentioned already) and do a HPFP. The sock intake isn't ideal but i'd sooner see a stock intake than a stock D/P!

there's never going to be a cheap way of getting power and any corners that are cut (i.e stock exhaust) are at the consumers own risk, we support a given spec for a reason...... that reason being that it's the best way to extract reliable and consistent power gains from these engines!

I'm not saying it's not possible but there is potential for damage to the engine if you're not running at least the basic hardware spec.

Hope this helps!

Theres never going to be a cheap way for sure. But when its obvious that we are being told that you cant get x map for your motor because you havent got this and that, which we can supply, smacks of bull. We the consumer ,if we have done our homework and spent many hours and sent many pm's researching, should have the final say. Even if the supplier says 'oh l dont know about that, l think you should buy this first, l just so happen to have one sitting here'. :jester:

Staz, thanks for the spin mate, your car sounds the absolute nutts with this CAI fitted - very impressed! And looks awesome too...

Interesting comments above on Bridgestones RE050, I've not used them but there seemed to be a whole heap of grip round those corners. I'll be interested to hear how you get on if fit the Vredstains.

This forum should come with a warning... the list of things I want to do is getting longer by the day!

:) indeed it should! I don't think there are many people on the forum who haven't modded their car in some way. Looking forward to November mate

Right my EVOMS engine cover finally arrived today and I was a little disappointed to be honest. I was expecting some sort of method to attach the original engine cover plate to it like so:

but there's nothing. I had a think of how it could be done with a Dremel or drill and files but the best way to attach it would be to cut the tabs off and use numberplate pads to stick it on. That bit can't be bought without buying a whole new engine cover so I decided against it.

The cover is fitted as is for now:

Very plain and boring. But far better than without and better than the Neuspeed IMHO.

If I had known what it was like in advance I probably wouldn't have bothered but what's done is done.

Now I thought about adding a badge or two to make it look better so here are a couple of ideas:

Here's the PSD file if anyone wants to have a play about:

Failing that I may try and get a normal 2.0 TFSI engine cover from a scrappies and use the grey insert on this as it's nearly the same as the S3 one:

Thoughts anyone?

I would do the same as MattAndrew to be honest - well thats my plan for when the new ITG CAI is released.

Was chatting to Revo at the weekend and they are running an ITG Prototype in their K1 Cupra - was told after testing with the Evoms they had in it, the ITG is pulling 10g/s more than the evoms which equates to around 3-5bhp more!

Quote.... "sounds like darth vader is in the car" from their rep haha

Don't want to rain on your parade but can see why you'd be disappointed as it looks a bit bland.

You gave it a try though be good to see it with some form of badging.

Matt was lucky enough to be able to find an S3 cover on ebay. They don't come up too often. I thought the EVOMS would be as good anyway.

I have no complaints about the EVOMS CAI though. Still loving the noise it gives :)
