hi again lads, i'm lookin for a wheel boffin tonight, i'm thinking about putting some merc wheels on my 51 plate a4, AMG type 18's to be exact, and i was wondering if they'd bolt straight on. any ideas?? thanks!!

You'll need to get the sizes, stud pattern and ET to get an answer mate

If the above is all the same the centre bore is probably different so you'll need spigot rings to locate on the hub properly.

ah yes! well i dont know what the numbers and letters mean but this is what the ad says:

Amg alloy wheels set of 4 fronts are : 8.5j x 18 h2 et44 rears are: 9.5j x 18 h2 et46

You will need to get 4 fronts mate, 9.5J will most likely cause rubbing issues! I might be wrong but heard few of the 'Ziners' on about it!

could i not roll the arches mr?? thinking of droppin it on coilovers, well, if i'm gonna fit them then i will be droppin it!

I have been running 19"x9" front and rear's Merc rim's without any rubbing and on coilovers with a 235 tyre

Both the fronts and the rears wil go on. The rears will be close and you will need to run a stretched tyre to squeeze them under, something like a 235/40/18 should do it. You might also need to take the rear arch liners out to stop rubbing, apart from that you should be ok. The wheels will be outside the arches on the back but with the stretched tyre you should be ok.
As mentioned earlier you will deffo need some spigot rings to get them down from 66.6 to 57.1.

brilliant, thanks alot for that john, you've set my mind at ease!! any idea where i could get the correct spigot rings for the job??

nevermind! i've just got some rings ordered. lovely job!! should i put the same size tyres on all 4 wheels??

Is your car a quattro??

I remember reading somewhere that if you have different rolling radius's.....which you will if fitting the same size tyres to 2 different width wheels, it can mess up your diffs.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to enlighten me on exactly what tho!!
