Conversion from pre-facelift double grill bumper to facelift S-line bumper

It really makes a difference. Here's my A3 with S3 bumper at the campsite at the foot of Ben Nevis

Yes the S3 bumper will but same as the S-line will need a new bonnet but with this will need to trim the reinforcement bar on the edge so the bumper can fit on. Only a few cm i believe

yes its the same job as fitting s-line except costs more LOL. For the S3 bumper, as Ash says, you need to trim the lower edges of the reinforcement bar to clear the larger foglight cutouts of the bumper. I marked & used an angle grinder LOL
 
If I already have a pre-facelift S-Line do I still need to buy the fogs if I go with:

A. The S-Line facelift bumper
or
B. The S3 bumper

Also, is the Side impact reinforcement/carrier (8P0807113B) needed for all conversions? It's just I havent seen this particular part mentioned before... not too keen on the idea of angle grinding parts down! :p

Would need new fog lights surround im guessing due to its change when we had the face lift and the S3 fog light surrounds different to the A3 design anyway. Not 100% sure you need to change the fog lights might still be the same size with the S-lines. But im sure some one will correct me now.

No you dont need to change the reinforcement bar really, just some people change it as they dont want to cut, sand or grind down the edges :)

Hi mate the fog surrounds and fogs have to be changed there different fogs, and the surrounds are quit a bit bigger that pre facelift slines as i had to do mine i also bought the new reinforfment bar but as mine was a s line they were the same on some models they differ and you either have to grind them of fit new for 50 quid its a no brainer ( idea for classifieds sell reinforcer) cheers Ian

Probably just an early single grille bumper but I need Washer holes in it. I also heard the earlier bumpers should be compatible with the the double grille fogs? I would then just get the bump strips smoothed over.

There is one on Ebay for £130, but would rather pay Under £100 as I'll also need the bonnet, and get them sprayed up!

Need to get some new wheels on first though and get it lowered a little.
 
Are all of the facelift (2005-2008) bonnets the same?

For instance, if i bought the S3 bumper and grille would I also need to source a bonnet specific to the S3 or would any of the facelift bonnets fit?

Does the 3dr facelift Sline lower rear bumper bit fit a pre-facelift 3dr?

i.e are the rear bumpers the same on a pre-facelift and facelift models?
 
The bumpers are different (No trim on the facelift S line, its all smooth) The valance is not a direct fit to the earlier bumper but it has been done with some minor mods.

Ok, thanks for that. I would replace it all but I have rear p.sensors and don't want to start messing about with them!
 
I have the Bumper! I got a non sline facelift bumper with washer holes on ebay for £90 delivered. Not too bad. I went for the non sline bumper jut to try and make it as easy as poss!!! Just got to get to get the grill now. Should be no more than £50?

With regards to the bonnet, could i just get a bodyshop to weld 2 plates in to make it line up with the bumper?

To do it properly & then match the paint up could cost you more than the bonnet. The bonnet is so noticable on a car it would have to be perfect. IIRC, my bonnet was £158+vat new from Audi.
 
Agreed. Just buy a new bonnet. The lines on the bonnet are also different so it matches the different width of the new grill. I couldn't find a bonnet either, so ended up buying through audi.

I've just finally finished my a3 sport full s-line conversion. Now have the facelifted front-end, s-line spoiler & complete s-line trim inside (including headlining), wheels, suspension etc.

It looks so much better. Ebay is your friend for all things s-line.
 
Does anyone know if the fog lamps on the facelift A3's (2005-2008) are the same fitment across the range?

For example - I'm just about to buy an S-Line bumper and I'm able to get the fog lamps from a facelifted sportback A3 or a standard 3dr A3.

Will the fog lamps from the sportback/standard 3dr A3's fit OK with the 3dr Sline bumper?

I think i am going to go ahead with the conversion in the near future. it looks to much better with the single grille rather than the split ones
 
is there someone that can get me the the parts i need to upgrade my 2004 (dualframe) to 2006 singleframe s-line or s3 front. The best is if the parts could be painted lavagrey and shipped to norway. these parts are hard to get!

If your doing an s-line conversion you wont need to. Only if your doing an S3 conversion.

Ok. So I'm looking to do a conversion. I have a 05 preface lift 2.0 fsi. I live in Croydon Surrey and am looking for parts and someone to this for me at a reasonable price. I'm open to both s-line or S3 bumpers.
