Want to replace my painted mirrors for either the chrome or aluminium mirrors but cant decide which.

I know the s4 and rs4 have the matt aluminium mirrors but they match those cars as they have matt silver grills and window surrounds but i have an S-LINE which has chrome surrounds.

So surely the chrome would look better as it matches the chrome surrounds of the S-LINE model?

I found this site which sells alot of stuff including both the chrome and aluminium mirrors they also have an ebay shop.

If it were me, I wouldn't do either - but as it's you - Chrome all the way :icon_thumright:

there copies, dont bother, they bubble up eventualy, get genuine ones off the bay.

i dont like the chrome personaly but thats only my opinion mate.

Brushed alum matt ones are the best looking & as per above the copies arent lasting, but why not just do a spray of your existing or ask bodyshop to do matt brushed alum colour with a dull lacquer etc coating for protection, few have done & looked good cheap as chips.

I've had the chrome on my S3 & brushed on S4 & current A3, brushed are far better on the eye.

mine are "chrome" in-pro ones & they match the window surrounds, grille etc... the quality is really good - no bubbling or lifting & they've been on there for a year now.

Ultra do you have any pics mate, and have your started to bubble or anything as the ones shown on that link are chrome in-pro ones.

I had the chrome inpro's and only just replaced with the oem s4's. Oem all the way, they look 100% better and classy.......:)

So you replaced the chrome ones for the alluminium matt then??

Yes sure did, the chrome looked too bling and in ya face!!! It now has the look i prefer!!! Now i'm happy. I would say if your in two minds, add the little extra cash and buy OEM!! Try the bay, you should get a set between £90-£120 used.

Can someone please confirm if these item numbers are the correct mirrors for my 2007 b7 a4?

8e0 857 507 b and 8e0 857 508 b

Having read the thread and OEM ones all the way. Anything else is just not the biscuit. If funds allow of course.

Mine sit behind me on the bookcase in my study and just checked the numbers once again Dazmo and the numbers I posted are correct and THEY ARE originals that were purchased two years ago form my main dealer.

They may supply them as an option as a kit pair now, who knows.

Yeah its definatly a kit and im not paying £300 for it.

Anyway just bought some for £100 new genuine S4 allu mirrors on the bay with the correct part numbers you gave me, are they easy to fit?

yes there a doddle to fit, just be extra carefull when removing the glass, thats about your only worry.

There's a good guide on Audizine HERE

Point the glass right down at the floor so you can get your fingers in behind it and pull gentky but firmly and you will be ok

New Oem covers for £100 was a deal :)

As the guys have said dazmo it is quite simple.

My tips......
1.I would be leave the car in the sun so the the existing mirror caps get hot, therefore the plastic is a little more supple as are the retaining clips.
2. I use a plastic ruler wrapped in some cloth to leaver the mirror glass out...GENTLY......Alot of guys have snapped the glass doing this so be warned.
3. Also be carefull with the spade connectors. They can corode and snap if you are not careful removing them.

Otherwise it is a doddle.

Good Luck.

.....I was popping mine on ebay and was hoping for a couple of hundred. I might not be so lucky now by the sounds.

Good buy mate.

I have heard before that this is the right number for a set of mirrors and is cheaper than buying each mirror separately from audi.

Ive read that somewhere recently too, i think you save around £70.00 over buying seperate mirrors but lets not forget they charge about £180-£190 per mirror so that would be about right.

Its still £300 though! although that does include fitting.

yeah, here you go:

i've had no issues with them at all - they've been on the car for over a year now.

Just purchased a set of mirrors of ebay that said they were genuine RS4 ones. Received them today and they have the part numbers:
8E0 857 508 B
8E0 857 507 B

Are these the part numbers of the standard B7's as they are plastic and the colour looks like the dark metallic grey that some B7's come in?

Pic?

Also checked etka & they show up as not the alum type, the D version is alum & as with the alum they fit 8P, 8E & A6 range of those years

RS4 Mirrors are different to the S4 ones, the RS4's have a double arm holding them onto the car as opposed the the single arm on S4's. The RS4's also look different - More like those on the older (51/08) M3's.

Hope this helps.

Tried to take a pic but it doesn't really show the colour properly. They aren't S4 ones, they are normal B7 mirrors in dark grey metallic (dark version of the Akoya Silver but don't know the name). Only got em for a tenner so will put them up on ebay in the correct category.

Never mind.
