Has anyone bothered with this, i.e. bought it from ebay etc and applied it themselves ?, i know if you get it applied at the dealer its expensive to say the least, i have read some people buy the kit from ebay for £60 and apply it themselves ?, is it worth it over a good polish with good quality 'normal' polish ?

Personally I wouldn't bother, just get some decent polish/wax and apply this.

£60!!!!!! Are you sure? When i was looking at it, it was between £8-£12. If you are prepared to spend that much you could get a few far higher quality products. See the guides on the main detailing page, match your colour and choose the best product to suit.

I don't recommend it at all! I got conned into having it when I bought my A4 from the dealers when I was still in the UK. Received the car and yes it looked clean and has a little lifeshine sticker on the windscreen but apart from that, there's nothing lifeshine about it, not to mention all the swirl marks etc, probably from some apprentice that didn't have a clue how to wash the car or apply wax / polish etc!!! Oh well...c'est la vie. It gives me something extra to do at weekends!

I used to apply this when i worked at mercedes as well as supagard and autosmart silverseal all ***** as i tried them all on my own car as well didn't make any difference. I found that Autoglym extra gloss protection was the best.

Despite its name I think it more about protection than the ultimate finish.
The A6 I have just bought has been done at some point and I could tell straight away that the paint had been treated the way the water and dirt came off of it.

I recently had my works van valeted and the guy that did it told me Lifeshine is a good treatment and it is carnauba based. He did warn me to stay away from these hand car wash places as they use TFR (traffic film remover), this is a harsh cleaner and would remove the protection. TFR use regular on any car will remove the shine.

If you use a good pre wash like snow foam it will remove most of the dirt if left to soak ...If you have heavy traffic film build up over a long time (don't wash the car often).. use a citric wash which will strip the TF build up and will not be to harsh on the protected paint .. But it is always good to apply protection after you have washed the car.
