To badge, or not to badge...

I recently found a replacement boot-lid to remedy my oxidation problems I was having around the plinth area on my Sport. The boot-lid came from a donor 1.8TQS and as such came with the 'red' badge on.

So... my question is... Badged? or not Badged?

I'm not one for stickering up my car, pretending it's something it isn't. No 'TWIN TURBO' or 'LIMITED EDITION' stickers ever go near any of my cars.

So... what do you think? Keep the TQS badge on, or remove it? I de-badged my old boot... if that helps.

i always take all badges off if possible. my "none of your business what I drive" mentality.
Have a mk5 golf with no badge. looks sleeper but its a 17obhp DSG deisel. worried a few much more "powerful" cars and leaves them wondering.
 
I'm undecided for our car.

I was bored one day and removed the "A4" badge, which i think looks better, and i should probably follow thru and remove the 1.8T from the other side, but my only reservation is that seen as the car is standard (and a little scruffy) it might make it look a bit 1.6'ey

If it was lowered or had some wheels etc then debadging would likely be a no-brainer option, though i'll probably take the 1.8T badge off at some point regardless.

What i'd really like is a plain audi sport badge, like the one fitted to the S4 but without the S4 inscription. I recon one of those neatly in the corner would look alright, and it wouldnt be badging it up as something its not as it is a Sport.

Unfortunately they simply arent available.
 
how do you remove badbes anyway??

I think you'll just end up wishing that it really was a quattro and be very sad that it isn't... debadge...!
 
i used a flexible plastic scraper (a credit card would work) to get the badge and as much of the foam goop off, then rubbed at the remaining glue/goop with my finger till most of it went away, then went over it 2 or 3 times with super resin polish to get the remaining crap off.

Doc i like that look actually. But again, it only works because of the spoiler/bumper. On our standard car i think it would just look a bit odd.

Maybe i need to find myself an RS4 spoiler and a facelift S4 rear end. :p
 
just by chance came across this write-up

1. get a hair dryer

2. get some dental floss (I used waxed/mint)

3. heat your rings up evenly for about 2 mins

4. slowly use the floss starting at either end and work it in a up and down motion under the rings and the adhesive tape

5. another person can hold the hair dryer while you are doing the flossing

6. the rings will come off after like 3-4 mins, best to do inside

7. finish up with some adhesive removal solution and/or a light cleaning

Again its not a stock car, its an RS4 bodied saloon, with an S4 rear.

It looks fine there, but i suspect a normal slim A4 with the standard bumper would look a bit odd without the rings in the middle.
 
Yeah, mine was de-badged, but I kept the rings.

I'd keep the rings again if I got rid of the A4 and 1.8T Quattro badges.

The A4 badge is different on this new boot than it was on my original facelift boot. Strange.
 
doc is that the standard quattro sport exhaust on yours in that pic? im hoping i need a new bumper and they will order me an s4 one but not sure if the exhaust will sit back a bit. i have no badges on at the mo due to me painting the boot but i think it will look better with just the rings in the centre but nothing looks good with the s4 rear.
 
As i suspected i dont like the look of that.

Docs car pulls it of, as does the one next to docs with the little lip spoiler, but on ians, without the lip spoiler or the S4 rear to break it up, it just doesnt look right.
 
im not that keen either. got a lip spoiler to go on too but i need to paint it yet. my only problem if i do get the s4 bumper is i will prob have to ditch the skirts and get some s4 ones. i dont think the s4 bumper will come down as low as mine with the votex lip on it. i will put the rings back on and try and get the audi sport badge for the boot and leave it like that,thats the best look i think.
 
I dunno tbh? unless you've had the exhaust moved i think you'll be fine.

The skirts are already a lot lower than the rear bumper looking at that pic?

they are a bit lower but not that much. it would look better with s4 ones anyway.
 
aye for sure, the S4 ones flow better, maybe its just the black trims, but the votex sides look a bit tacked on?
 
I removed all but the 1.8T badge.

I had the dark gumball sticker on for a couple of years too but whipped that off a couple of weeks ago.
 
very clean... nice wheels also do you have a side on shot?
 
i would get the s4 lower door trims if i could find a cheap set and that would look much better than the black strips. i think the votex skirts would look better on a black car.
 
Heres a pic of my old car debadged. Wasn't my choice to do it, but the dickhead who sprayed the boot when i took the spoiler off put all the badges in the wrong places Dohhhh!!

yea i meant the latter, which ones are they? and how much has your car been lowered looks about 80mm?
 
They are BBS RT205 wheels, 17x7.5" with 13mm spacers on the back and 5mm on the front.

I am not sure how much I am lowered by but your guess of 80mm will probably not be that far off.
