Security for your A3, wheel locks and alarms

As the weeks draw closer, i have started thinking about security for my vehicle. What wheel locks do you guys/gals use on your wheels? Or are they pretty much the same across the board.
Also I know that the stock alarm system on my mazda2 sport was a pathetic little watch alarm that wouldn't scare the crows away. Is the A3's alarm any better and if not any recommendations on improvements.

I have the normal Audi locking nuts on my car, i have no idea how good the standard alarm is.

Are you wanting to deter people away from your car or stop someone from nicking it?

If you are wanting to stop one from nicking it then just get yourself a decent steering lock and gear lever lock.

Would you want the car back if it was stolen? If so, have you thought about getting a tracker?

My A3 has a tracker but it's not activated, i wouldn't want it back if someone nicked it.

The standard alarm/immobiliser should be up to the job these days.

Thieves today generally need to steel your keys to steel the car.

As for the locking wheel nuts, I would suggest adding another set to your wheels to be on the safe side. I know a few years back there were only a handfull of different audi key combinations so the theives were able to get around the standard locking bolts fairly easy if they wanted to. Not sure if Audi have addressed this issue, but for the sake of £30 it may be worth adding that second set.

Agreed mate wouldnt want mine back if some other low life tramps vest other than me had been sat in my groove and giving it some tash,when we have them in at work whats been pinched i cant see why half of the time no one wants to come down and have a look at the damage if its still repairable and not wrote off rather than just been glad of having there car back,they dont think that 1k down the line some major engine-clutch issue etc etc may arise :iagree:
 
clifford blackjax, nuff said. theif cant even have your car for more than 30 secs even if he takes your keys.
 
standard alarm is good enough , wheel locks are fine but if they get your keys your knackered , well instead of clifford blackjack thats stupidly expensive get a cutout switch fitted to the feul pump it cost me 60 quid to have fitted you choose where the swich goes , the car will start up and cutout 10 yards away , you just got to remember to flick the switch on ....

best 60 quid ive spent awesome ......
 
The giac handheld flasher i have has kill mode which means they wont even get the car started at all because it just kills the ecu,but still dont fancy having someone who has just broke into my house to get keys hanging about on the drive trying to get it started
 
if they couldnt start it i doubt they would hang around tbh ...they will have a back up car outside and probably retreat ....

only a nutter would go back into you knowing the police are on there way and if your on the top of the stairs in an elevated position with a weopon only a fool would attempt to attack you ....so they would call it a day
 
blackjax stupidly expensive?!?!?! £230 fitted, hardly stupidly expensive. My dad used to have this on his Jag, fitted at SQ+ in manchester, superb bit of kit.
 
its says compatible with clifford g5 alarms only how much are they ??

As dicky said, they are stealing the keys to the cars. So you can spend as much as you want on a security system, but it is only as good as the security of your keys. Rinse and repeat the argument...

Oh, regarding locking bolts - you should only have one locking bolt fitted to anyone one wheel.
 
they can get your keys with a cutout switch still cant take it mate , best 60 quid ive ever spent.....

read up about the clifford blackjax. the theif can drive your car for appx 20-30 secs then the car cuts out, thats even WITH the keys. you have to punch in a code for the car to carry on driving.

Well your senses appear as acute as your ability to read a post properly; and I have question what you are on about anyway as my point was quite clear. But to explain it for you: I am not interested in aftermarket security, I will take my chances and what will be, will be and I won't be wasting my time or money worrying about it. Therefore I won't be reading up on the device you mentioned.

None of my first posts were actually been in reference to anything you said in the first place, so take a pill fella - it's only the internet you know.

So having broken in to your house and stolen your keys the car then stops. What if they then decide to come back into the house to demand the code. What started as theft of a motor vehicle suddenly becomes a whole lot worse.

Personally I think I would rather they just took the car and went. A car is only a car and can be replaced quite easily.

ahhhh the classic internet troll, just as I had thought. If you have no interest then why post up trolling? Your post had no relevence, nor assistance to the thread starter or anyone else in this thread. All chilled here, but I just get bored of small minded people posting up rubbish that has ZERO assistance to anyone, but rather they would like to point out somthing totally irrelevent. I guess there is that chance, BUT, if I was a car theif having just took your keys and drove the car off for appx 30 seconds then the car cuts out, the first thing on my mind would to be leg it off elsewhere rather than run back and ask for the code.

That would probably depend on who the thief was and why they were taking the car. If it was being taken because the chance was there then you may be right. But if the car was being stolen to order by a 'professional' car thief that would a different ball game.

Personally I would rather not take the risk.

So, im thinking Clifford seems to be a fairly reputable company to go with. Looking at these G5 lines, has anyone had any good or bad experiences with them? I'm not too sure on getting the Blackjaxx one as i've read about people having problems with cars cutting out whilst doing 70mph and what not.
Which model of G5 would you guys recommend, if any.
 
Would leave an 'orrible' smell though :puke2:

Guys - Anyone know whether security locking nuts are fitted (one to each wheel ) as standard on new shape S3's? don't seem to have any info about this??? Cheers

Yes I think you will find all A3s have them fitted as standard.

Ah great - that's a relief - though do not recall being given a tool to take these off with, would it be in the boot by spare wheel presumably do you know?
