Audis in the Park! Sunday 9th August 2009

Just got home from 'Audi-Sport.net' in the Park (quite a turnout from the forum).

Got to briefly meet the organiser, so very well done to him for getting the event sorted. Weather was kind, and only Kettering's road infrastructure caused any issues as it bottlenecks into Wicksteed Park.

Was good to meet a few of you, and hear the sound of V8 and V10's thronging across the Park. Took a few photos whilst we were there, so here are a few to give you some perspective if you didn't get the chance to go:

I too have just got home and what a scorcher!!!.

As has been said it was a fantastic turn out, we outnumbered the other clubs by quite a way.

Big thank you to Mark and Stacey for sorting out the hopsitality side of things, it really was an excellent effort. The gazeebo confused the hell out of me when we were putting it up earlier on but we got there in the end. BBQ was excellent too :)

Calvin, fantastic effort and a really good show with a class venue so thank you for sorting it all out. I didnt think you were going to give that black R8 back though :D

And to everyone I met a thanks for a a great day. Nice to put some faces to names and have a look at some of your cars, roll on next year :)

Hope everyone got back safe and sound..... I didnt rate those speed bumps on the way in and out though!.

Tom

Hi to all, and as mentioned above what a great turn out, and as usual, it's nice to put faces to names. Shame I had to leave at 2ish due to work cimmitments, I wanted to stay a bit longer, but was there long enough to see As.net pick the best stand award up, nice one guys!

Muchas Gracias to the event and stand organisers, Cal, Rob, Mark, Stace and anyone else I missed out. :)

Roll on the next event of AudiDriver's International in October, I shall be starting a thread in the next few days to get an idea of numbers that shall turn up to represent As.net once again.

Joe.

Hello!

Well for my first meet as an Audi Sport.net member, I loved it! I was made to feel welcome by every member I spoke to.. And looking at all the other stands, I knew I had chosen the right club! Our stand looked the best and deserved to win.

Well done to all of you involved in the organisation!

As above, shame I had to leave early as I would have liked to stay to the end :)

Im looking forward to the next meet now! Where ever that may be!

Fantastic day, well done to all involved in the organising.
To echo what the others have said, nice to put names to faces and nice welcome feeling.
I did feel a bit left out having a "4" on the back of my car and not a "3" :lmfao:

Some nice photos there Mark.

Hi all,
Just wanted to take this time to thank each and every one of you that attended today.
I tried to get around to speak to everyone but after a vehicle count of 197 (excluding Audi demo cars and traders), I realise why I didn’t manage it!
The event was my first ‘proper’ event and I have obviously learnt a lot for next time.
I apologise in advance if anyone didn’t have a good time and will do my best to correct any issues for next year.
The general consensus (so far) has been fantastic! The turnout far far far exceeded my expectations and may have resulted in a bit of cramped confused parking, again for this I apologise.
Everyone I spoke to asked if there will be another one next year.....and the answer is YES!
I may have organized the show but an event is nothing without people....and in my opinion, it was the people (you guys) that made it what it was. So THANK YOU again!
Calvin

Hi all, I just want to say a mahooosive thanks to Mark and Stacie for their great enthusiasm and everyone who supported ASN. Sorry, I didn't get to meet everyone but I was occasionally there. I had orders to have fun at the theme park with my little monster to keep tears and tantrums at bay! lol - But I was 100% with you in spirit!

Thanks guys and girls. It was a fantastic day! :hi:

I'll have you know I wasnt the shortest person there today!!! (Cal was ;))

Well then folks; what a day!

I arrived up at my 'rents a little while ago, I've had something to eat and relayed the day's stories to my Dad (who I guess sparked my Audi enthusiasm (I've lost count of how many he's had!)); so I think it's due time I posted a few words which I feel are rather important.

I guess 'Thank You' would sum up what I want to say to all of you, but I'd like to back that up a little...

Firstly, to Calvin and Annie of Drive By Shooters - using any metric, they put on a simply excellent show; and to be completely honest I'm absolutely gobsmacked that it was the inaugural Audis In The Park - to anyone who didn't know any different, this could easily have been a 10 years+ established event. That in my mind, is a simply amazing acheivement. I've been in touch with Calvin this evening, and he's being extremely modest, humble even, about that acheivement. Every time I've conveyed my (and our collective) thanks and congratulations, he's responded immediately by passing credit straight back to the wider community. He's right, the community (including ASN members) deserves some thanks - and I'll get on to that shortly - but as I told Calvin - a great Orchestra only plays a Symphony perfectly when led by a great Conductor. One of the key reasons so many contingents of the Audi community pulled together is that Calvin is such an accessible, friendly, helpful, keen and genuine chap.

So, now to the community at large...

Thanks must go to all the organisations and other clubs who came out to support the event and the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance - I think everyone did justice to both; and it was great to have a more relaxed social day (as a refreshing break from the hectic track-day/drag-strip meets) - and I think everyone enjoyed sharing the atmosphere.

And the Audi-Sport.net group...

Well, I'm completely in awe of you. Each and every one of our members deserves great credit for contributing in one of the many ways which people did to ASN's impressive and successful presence at the event. The fact so many of you attended (proabably our largest showing at any event to date) was simply amazing, and your enthusiasm for and support of the event and ASN was brilliant to see. My apologies to any of you who I didn't get to have a chat with, I hope you'll understand my somewhat frenetic buzzing around our patch - and I look forward to catching up with you in future! Special thanks must go to Mark (Byzan A4) and Stacie (Purple Princess) for all their help in ensuring the day went so well, that we were well fed and watered, and that we had some great prizes for a raffle which raised a good sum for a good cause. Also to Ming Blue for her invaluable assistance in logistics (particularly in our 11th-hour mad-dash), the legendary docurley for his time and resources in helping put screen-names, cars and people together - and also his bravery in being first to spray various flammables/combustibles we found in the back of my car to help get the BBQ burning steadily (all clean buring I hasten to add!). Then to everyone else who chipped-in, (in my best Kenneth Williams voice) assisting with erections - Gazebos/Signage etc. of course! Contributing food and joining the catering staff, taking some great photos to document our triumph, supporting the raffle, and presenting a great selection of Audis backed-up by friendly and welcoming demeanour.

Testament to the commitment everyone showed in playing their part in ASN's show was our receiving the Best Club Display award. I think the title of the award is quite thought-provoking in itself. Without wishing to detract even slightly from our previous group-outings, I think something great happened today. In my eyes, Audi-Sport.net was not only a great forum, but a truly great club too. I hope you'll all accept my most sincere thanks for helping accomplish that progression.

All the best,

Rob.

My EOS only made it out of the car once during the day which seemed to fly-by, I'll examine those quick snaps tomorrow, but I'm sure (as posted above) there are plenty of great shots of the day...

Regards,

Rob.
