Hello!.

Anyone know if I would be able to change my pay monthly orange mobile to pay as you go?.

I'm having a nightmare with Orange and I'm looking at jumping ship and going with Vodafone but still have 8 months left on an 18 month contract so will need to keep my old phone for a bit...cheapest way would be to transfer to PAYG but I'm not sure I'll be able to.

GRRRRR, Orange are making my **** boil. Phones been bust for 3 days now, its insured and they still cant confirm if I'm getting a new phone or not. Need my phone so work can get hold of me and also to keep tabs on my swine flu infested bird so need a new phone quick.

Cheers

Tom

Am guessing you'll have to pay a charge based on the exact time you have left on your contract but am sure it is possible. Personally, having been with pretty much all of 'em, i'd try O2. I pay £20 a month and get 300 mins (at least) & 300 txts to any network anytime.

Good luck!

Well my tariff isnt too bad as it goes. £35 per month for 600 minutes and unlimited texts etc so its pretty good. I'm just utterly fed up with a lack of help from them with my broken phone.

Its insured, its not been broken by misuse or dropping etc, I have been with Orange for 10 years, never missed a payment etc blah blah. My phone packed up a few days ago and its unable to make to get calls, so they keep telling me they will phone me back....er..hello my phones BROKEN so you cant. Anyway, the 'fault' has been batted from department to department and when I phone for an update I have to talk to the world and his mate before speaking to the right person. Once I speak to that person after being on hold for 45 minutes I'm told its been passed to someone else and I have to phone back as they cant phone me.

Its a nightmare, I'm just sick to death of it now. I have 8 months left on my contract, at this rate if me stamping my feet in the morning doesnt sort it out I'll just drop my tariff to the cheapest one and let it run out on its own and get a new number.

****** Orange......rubbish!.

Hi tom i was with t mobile had 3 months left on contract and wanted to go to vodafone rang them and told them going out of country for a few months and to put me on the lowest tarriff they do think its about £9 a month then didnt use it again now with vodafone on super sim payg £20 a month get 600 mins unlimited text thats 9999 texts:arco::rock:

Cool.

Well I've been looking at other deals and I fancy an N97 on Vodafone as I can get unlimited texts, loads of free minutes and free internet access on the phone.

I just hope I can rant at Orange enough to either match it or bin me off for good....idiots.

Plus my sky TV remote has just stopped working, my internets on a go slow and I've not seen my bird for ages because of swine flu....to say I'm a bit f*cked off is an understatement :(

My sons just got the 97 1200 mins unlimited text unlimited tinternet free landline calls and free email on vodafone £40 month and he loves it:thumbsup:

Cheer up Charlie, every cloud and all that....

Personally, after 10 years of being a decent customer, i'd bid them farewell and move on. It's their loss and am sure you can get a better deal.

Let us know how things progres.

yeah thats what I'm aiming for to be honest.

I had a go with a lad from works earlier on and the internets fantastic on it, plus its got a really nice 'feel' to it too. Much nicer than an I-Phone in my opinion (plus the tarrifs are poor with the I-Phones).

I shall keep you all posted though. Orange have one more chance to sort me out in the morning, if they dont I shall be leaving them and popping into town to pick up an N97 on Voda......and a new sky remote...hurrumph!!.

Dude, argue with them and say that you dont want to pay for the days you have not had service due to the phone not working and them not helping you, then say you are thinking of going to the telecoms ombudsman and kick off stink!!!

Just say you want to get out of the contract or want them to sort something pretty sharpish!!!!

They have always been ok with me, especially when I kick off with them, so see what they say and take it from there.

On a seperate note, I had a play with the N97 on the weekend and was very impressed with it.

I did promise myself never to get an N series phone again, however i think that may have just changed!!!

Tom, Brittanic Warehouse just by the Jewellry Quarter do the Sky remotes at a really good price, just give em a call and see what they got, you might be able to save a few quid that way, genuine ones and sky+ ones as well.

Stink will be getting kicked up good and proper tomorrow morning...trust me....ITS ON!.

I really cant be in the position where by I dont have a phone so I'll toddle off to the Vodafone shop tomorrow if they cant sort me out and get an N97 and then cancel my Orange phone or reduce it to the cheapest tardif I can and let it run out.

Morons.

Tom can you not go into an Orange shop to create? It carries much more weight than being on the phone to them. Especially if you go in work time ;)

More and more people seem disillusioned with Orange lately.

The problem with insurance is that it doesn't cover a manufacturing defect/fault. It only seems to cover loss, theft and certain accidental damages. Also, if they replace the phone it's still going to cost you the £20-£30 excess. What make of phone is it? It might be better going direct to the manufacturer. I've had a few faults sith my SE C905 and I've dealt with SE direct, and they've repaired the phone and even the postage is free.

Well I bit the bullet and went out and got me an N97 this morning....what a phone!!.

The sat nav on its awesome and its going to take me about a month to learn how to use it.

Steps are in place to get the Orange contract disposed of.

This word aptly describes Vodafone customer services, pray to almighty allah that NOTHING goes wrong with your phone/contract/bill/ANYTHING TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELATED as they are as much use as tits on a fish, chocolate fireguard etc etc....

Sorry to put a downer on your spiffy new phone and all :)

The question i have now is nokia n97 or i-phone 16gb?

So what did you do Dazmo,by the looks of it you cancelled, if so was it easy and what was said???

Yes mate was so easy it was scary.

Just said i want to cancel my contract as your recent price increases on calls over my allowance break the terms of my contract with you etc etc

She then i see but according to your account you dont go over your allocated allowance and armed with the advice on this site( http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache...&ct=clnk&gl=uk)i just splurted some terms and conditions and she just said so would you like to transfer your number!!

No arguments she clearly knew why i was ringing, it took about 2 minutes and she has now posted my pac/puk code for me to transfer my number, which means i now keep my phone and i have said 6 months line rental so around £200!! brilliant.

Bit of an update re my Orange contract.

After a bit of foot stamping my contract is now over, 8 months early based on poor service. So a bit of a result.

So I now have a free N97 on Vodafone with unlimited internet, texts and a bucket load of free minutes....happy days.

As for N97 v Iphone. The contracts on O2 are no good IMO. Too few texts and minutes so that was the main reason I went to Vodafone as it only costs me £40 per month. I have to say the N97 is great, 32gig, Sat Nav, great internet and a decent camera. It also has an FM transmitter in it so you can tune it into your car stereo and listen to your tunes on the phone. The keyboard is really handy when on the internet and also for long texts and the touch screen is brilliant to use too.

I've only scratched the surface of what it can do but I'm very happy with it. I do like th Iphone but I'm happy with my Nokia. I hope its not too 'glitchy' like some of the old Nokias but so far, so good :)

Cheers

Tom

iPhone all the way! You may have to pay slightly more for the contract but I think its definately worth it as the iPhones a much better product!

Well having had my n97 for a few days and having used my mates iphone i think i made the right choice. There are more applications for the iphone but the nokia comes with more features for sure. I also like the keyboard on the nokia too.

The internets great on it too as im finding out now!

I'm going to have a play on you N97 on sunday Tom, my voda upgrade is due soon, and I went to look at a static one instore on tuesday, but I felt it was a bit bulky and heavy over an I-phone, maybe a few goes will convert me. I have to admit, I was never a fan of the I-phone, but I've had a play with my brother in laws last week, and the user interface is well designed and easy to get the hang of which was ideal for me, but the touchscreen keyboard will take some practice.

Yeah no worries Joe...feel free.

Its not as big as i thought and the real ones feel nicer than the demo ones. It feels quality though and nicely made :)

My contract finished 2 weeks ago and nokia not upgrading thier camera on the last 2 or 3 models has put me of the 97 went and looked at the samsung pixon 12 yesterday 12 mega pixel camera and loads of goodies am very tempted:hubbahubba:

I've not really used the camera yet, I'll take a few at Audis in the park tomorrow and see how they turn out :)

Went into orange today and had a long chat with one of the sales guys.

I told him i was thinking of either a nokia n97 or an iphone and wanted some advice.

First thing he said was dont bother with a nokia n97 as at the moment they are very buggy and orange has refused to sell them until nokia sort them out.

He then pulled out his personal iphone and said you cant beat these they are simply amazing however unfortuantly they are still on 02 and there tariffs are shocking.

He also told me that as of october 02 no longer have exclusive rights to sell the iphone and orange will be selling it and possibly vodaphone aswell.

He advised me to wait until this happens as the competition should force 02 to lower its prices or alternativly wait and see what other networks offer.

Finally he advised me that this is one of the current market leading brands and is actually outselling the iphone and the n97:-

Hi guys took the plunge today and went for the samsung pixon 12 12 mega pixel camera 1200 anytime anynetwork mins unlimited texts (9999) unlimited tinternet unlimited landline £50 cashback £40 month all i can say is DAAAAAAAM:rockwoot::o.k:

I have heard as well that Orange are to get the i phone in the next month or two, however its just going to be the 3G one, not the 3GS.

Previous experience with N series phones has been bad, however having a good ol play with the N97, i was pleasantly surprised.

I might try the ol' trick about leaving orange and see if they can offer me anything, Tom did they offer to renew your contract or just say that they will give you a new phone??
