had my suspension and braided brake lines fitted by unit 20.
ive done about 2k not even that since.

and the bolt that holds the bracket on the back of the caliper for the brake line and abs wire has magically fallen out.
never fell out all its life and now it chooses to.

well bracket has ripped my cv boot apart.. unit 20 didnt seem very careing and wont do it for 2 weeks and want £80 to fix it.

it think its a bit out of order to be honest, guy didnt seem to care. like i was interrupting his day.

the boss bloke. he was in the office in the back, never said a word to me.

so when the cv gets fixed my car is up for 3k
or if it doesnt sell ill see how much ill make splitting it.
and i mean the entire car. if i can get 3k for it in bits.

just had enough now.

I'm sorry hear to your troubles... I am suprised at your comments with regards to Unit 20. I've never used them personally but i have had nothing but good reports. RS246 & Audisrs guys have never given a bad word either.

Just very suprised.... Shame you have to sell the car or break it just on this or is there more to it?

£80 to fit a £6 part, OUCH !!

It would be worth it to them to sort it for the relative small cost.

I do have to say tho i cannot see why they would have to remove or touch that bracket at all as the hoses and wires clip into it

PS Not sure you will get 3K for her mate as facelift quattros go for less than that at the mo

i know, i doubt ill get near the amount i would like.

the £80 includes the cost of the boot. - i assume anyway.

i dont see why it has decided to fall out now. they have to touch the bracket to fit the braided lines, but not sure about the securing bolt.

the car refuses to be worked on, everything has been a ball ache from start to finish, nothing is easy, even when im paying someone to do the work for me it hasn't been straight forward.
are the braided lines meant to be clipped in or held on with zip ties. as mine have been zip tied on.

i would have thought they clipped into the original holder unless the larger diameter pipe wont sit in snug in the clip it would keep popping out when you press the brakes

yours is prob the first bad review ive seen of unit 20, sorry to hear bout the crap your going through with the car, my old A4 was like that and it done my nut in big time so had to get rid of it, 98 plate A4 1.8se full mot an 9mnths tax........................£250:( it was in the way of my S4 though and was dead money to me so i was glad to get rid of it

i dont know what to do with it,
everything has annoy'd me, unhelpfull ppl dont make it any easy'r
both vw garage's in the local area have done jobs on it and both have not done it 100%

had enough now.

your going to make a loss on the car which you know but its how much you can afford to jus let the car go, mine had to go as i was on the verge of drivng the git off a bridge, as you said to unhelpfull people dont help thats why me an my old man done all work but after one job another would turn up and i was spending stupid cash on it, if you can afford to get rid of it then do but dont rush into it. wot exactly is wrong with the car then?

at the moment, just the cv boot has been torn apart.
only other bad point is the small but long dent on the passenger door and a scratch, and back bumper needs repainting.

b5 avant, 2.6 v6 2wd.
5 speed manual.
lowerd, 17's, upgraded brakes and lines.
full ss exhaust.
black, interior, cream carpet and door inserts

sounds nice mate, how much you think you can get for it? not much of market for the big engines rite now, had my S4 for a bargain:)

i would have thought they clipped into the original holder unless the larger diameter pipe wont sit in snug in the clip it would keep popping out when you press the brakes

they should have proper holders, the original rubber bung type. zip ties? that is a bit poxy.
surprised by your report about Unit 20.
Was is Grizz himself you spoke to or some minion?

a lad who works there. the boss bloke was in the office in the back..
yup zip ties. lad said it will mot like like that, im not so sure.

im actually tempted to have the car inspected by vosa ppl. there is a testing station near me, see what they did and see if my car is safe.

a lad who works there. the boss bloke was in the office in the back..
yup zip ties. lad said it will mot like like that, im not so sure.

I zip-tied my brake lines when I did them a couple of years back and haven't had any problems at MOT time. I think so long as they are restrained so there's no chance they'll get snagged they are fine.

It's not as if zip-ties snap easily!

I should think they do when they have red hot stainles pipes next to them.
stainless lines are smaller than normal so they fit into teh OEM holders easily. the holders are all there for your OEM brakes, unless they broke them or they weren't there there is no reason to use zip ties. you don't actually want them zipped up to anything, they are meant to be held in place AWAY from other stuff.

speak to Martin (grizz), he is normally pretty helpful. PM me I have his mobile

Adam ,

Thanks for all the bad feed back..

A screw that we had no need to undo falls out after 2000Miles and a trip to the Ring so it must be our fault...

Sorry i missed you the other day but i was taking to a customer from the UAE...

So a little busy..

So your going to vosa.... We strip and rebuild 200 mph rs6's most weeks and now your trying to imply your car is unsafe after we fixed it......

Read your posts , think about your statements.....

If we had removed the bolt and it was our fault we would with out question fix the car foc.

Thanks unit20

i

the car refuses to be worked on, everything has been a ball ache from start to finish, nothing is easy, even when im paying someone to do the work for me it hasn't been straight forward.

sounds to me you are experiencing more troubles and are sick of your car than the supposed issue you outline in this thread with unit20

how about talking to unit20 rather than whining about it on the forums on "teh internets"?

Grizz:

I applaud you for coming on and giving your side of the story.

However is it not fair to say that you were the last person touching the braking system, working mere inches from said bolt, and manipulating the very pipes the bolt holds on? It seems inconceivable to me that a bolt thats never been touched in 12 years would just fall out, quite the contrary it would likely be siezed nice and tight.

I'm not taking sides one way or another, but i do know that bolts that have been fitted for many years dont just fall off, and you were the last person touching that very component of the car only a short time ago...

I can see why the OP would take the view he has done.

[grabs popcorn].........

Have to say just been to Unit 20 today for my second service through them and probably my 7/8th visit in total including mods they have done to my 200mph RS6 and warranty work, my warranty is an all singing and dancing full component warranty from Audi and I choose to have all my warranty work done at Unit 20, I know alot of warranty companies are more than happy for work to be carried on out their behalf at Unit 20, had the work not been upto standard, I doubt these companies would be happy to keep sending business their way, I also doubt that they would have as many returning customers as they do, just my 2 penneth

i never said i was going to vosa i said i might, to make sure my car is safe. i personly would not zip tie brake lines to the metal holders, when they are designed to have metal clips pinning them in place.
but if it is safe then im ok with it.

and to get the pipe of the bracket has to be disturbed.

im more annoy'd at the way i was left standing there like i was interuppting everything. then get told it wont be fixed for 2 weeks and its cost me £80.

when i phone, i get told i will be called back and it never happens.

so you must understand im a little put out by it all.

£80 might not seem a lot to you guys when your working with these 200mph rs6's and massive budgets.

but its £80 i cant afford to loose on the basis the failiure should not have occurr'd at all.

Lol at the popcorn.

I'm not saying they do bad work, quite the contrary all ive heard is positive and they are one of the few places i'd feel confident taking an S4 to.

I'm just saying i personally feel its a bit much for them to deny ALL responsibilty when they were working on the same component not long before it happened. It might not be their fault at all, but to me its not a component that would just drop off without having been disturbed, and it IS a component they were working on.

i'm sure you guys can sort this out how about meeting halfway on the cost?? its impossible to be 100% sure of fault but customer relations need to be a high priorty for all the companys servicing us as we spend so much money on stuff we dont need and the majority is on reccomendation, so for the sake of a few quid i personally would keep adam sweet as his return business alone will repay you 10 fold and your reputation will remain unblemished which is always nice

I have to say i am astounded by the £75 labour charge to change the boot.

Grizz and Adam-d can we please keep this factual or take it to PMs thanks

Byzan A4, ok no worries.

i went to unit 20 due to the reccomendations of here.
and after my undertray going missing when it went into central vw/audi in ellsemere port.

i wasn't expecting it free either, i was just shocked at seeing the zip ties.
then got told i had to pay, after waiting around.
not even a half way compromise.
which made me more annoy'd

each time ive been had work done its taken longer than it should. due to one thing or another.

maybee ive just had a bad run of luck but its really getting tiresome.
hence why i feel like selling the car on.

im past being annoy'd/angry etc

just fed up now.

Adam ,

Lets get this back on track..

I've got 100's of very happy customers most of which will travel 100's of miles to get work done by us.

When you arrived i was on a call to the UAE So unable to see you.

We pride our selves on our customer relations and think you would be hard pressed to find any negative reports.

As for the price quoted..... A genuine boot is £17.59 + vat ,1 hours labour is £45 + vat

I'm more than happy to help sort this out but i'm away on holiday for 10 day As off tomorrow.

Grizz

so therefore, i could be reading it wrong, because you have lots of happy customers. and that you have not had any complaints ever,.

im lying and making it up? and your not willing to help me out. or put it another way that i undid/messed the bolt and have messed the car up? and it had nothing to do with the lines being replaced,

as for going on holiday, i now know why i was told 2 weeks. but i was only told it would be about 80 an you cant do it for 2 weeks, felt like i was being fobbed off.

still does a bit if im honest.

and as for making stuff up etc. on my track car. i broke a drive shaft myself. removing it. me. i did it. it was under warrenty. so i took it too them and said any chance of helping me out. they said no, so i bought a new one.
wasn't over the moon about it, but i bust it so i paid for a new one.

same goes for this, if i had of bust it, i would have just accepted it and paid. but i havent touched it. christ i didnt even have the wheel off till wednesday morning when it was making random noises.

the most ive touched the car since the work was carried out is to check the tyre pressures, clean it and put fuel in.

some of the above statement may not make sense. as i feel im rambling now. getting annoyd again and picking at different bits.
so sorry if it seems a bit garbled.

I have to say i am astounded by the £75 labour charge to change the boot.

it is equally astounding that most people in this thread are jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts

as said above tit for tat posts a forum are not the way to raise and sort issues - man up and talk face to face - often easiest and most equitable way to do things

Adam ,

Please read the last line of my last post .

"I'm more than happy to sort this out ...."
But i can't if i'm not in the uk ..

Come and see me tomorrow before i leave.
