best coilover prices

Pretty new to the site,and really finding it great for advice and ideas:beerchug:

I've got the misses an a3 tdi sport,picking up the bentleys sat,tyres monday,and then sending the bentleys off to be painted.
While this is being done i want to remove the eibach springs and fit coilovers,i've decided its fk's (which get slated on here,but of been in mate mates a3 and i feels pretty good) or weitecs which people say are very good on here.
So being lazy :yes: i wondered if anyone had purchased any recently and wondered what the best prices you got them for and where from.

FK's are good for your remote controlled car. Really mate, the hardware can snap from one moment to the other if you drive hard.
Consider safety & performance, not looks and price. Buy Bilstein, H&R, ecc.
 
Cheers James ,i know what your saying and i have a rs4 with kw's fitted but this is for a chipped 175 bhp a3,there not exactly lightning lol
Its for the misses who does about 6k miles a year and i would have dismissed them had i not been in my mates a3.
I will prob go for the weitecs and if is was my daily i would pay more but she only tootles around,or so she tells me :think:
 
I understand then mate. You could even consider loading a set of springs, and simply having the original shocks re-calibrated and the stems shortened.
The whole job would only set you back by 5-600Eur, and the car would ride great.
 
When considering the FK's don't just think of it from a perspective of how hard the car will be driven.

Cheap coilovers are made from cheap materials. They are not inox s/s coated, and can corrode or seize up leading to earlier failure.

For some reason the world has got it in to it's head that coilies are the only credible upgrade path, but high quality spring/damper set ups will from a long term perspective outperform cheap coilovers. Cheap coilovers are value engineered to a price, so unless you have your wife well insured and you don't care for her too much then give them a miss ;-)

Most people don't realise that coilovers whilst providing adjustability for track surface and ride height requirements also offer the opportunity to calibrate and adjust cars which have weight redistribution upgrades / penalty ballasts in racing. There is SO much adjustment that there are cases where an experienced racing team can fail to optimise set up for some scenarios. As we tend to have our cars set up once and forget it, all this adjustment is surplus to requirement unless you have a team of qualified experts at your disposal. For plain road use they just don't make sense unless you are intent on dropping it on it's arches to be 'scene' once in a while.

If money is absolutely no object and you want the best, then fair enough buy good quality stainless steel coilovers and have them properly set up and alighned. Tyres, brakes and suspension should not be compromised or short changed at any point as these are the bits that perform the real magic of keeping you firmly planted on the tarmac.
 
evacos.... a3simon has a set of kw v2s for about 500 i think there your best bet there usually about 1200 1300 arnt they....
 
They are for a different model blazin, Jules just get the weitecs, you have Mike on your estate with them on who is 5 secs away from you, go round the block in his!
 
Cheers for the replys,to be honest i just want it to handle better,but dropping it on its **** is the main reason.
I don't want to completely ruin the ride comfort or make it unsafe as a few have mentioned.
Yeah Nath,i'll heve to ask Mikey to take me round the block,i spoke to him a while back and he also said the weitecs were very good.
So next step is just to find the best price for these then,them kw's for sale are defo not for mine then ?

FK's crap???

I had them in my car for 2.5 years and are still perfect! All i had to do was replace a leaky rear shock which was done under warrenty

Excellent coilover by the way - mine were FK Silverline's

Like i have said before i have 2 mates with 2 well known show cars,they work the coilovers really hard and ive been passenger in both and like the ride quality,on the a3 it is wound right down and is not to harsh as i was expecting.
Thay have both recommended them but everyone on here turns there noses up at them,its not like there ebay £199 specials.
But after all that i am prob going with weitecs as prices are not that different.
 
If I had to chose between FK/KW/WIETEC I would chose KW but if you are looking a coilover to do as much as possible compared to the KW for less money then FK is what you are after

You can chose from:

Highsport (basic height adjustment)
Konigsport (height and dampening)
Silver Line (height with stainless body)
Silver Lin X (height and dampening stainless body)

There is another model but I cannot remember. I was a student when I bought them which was partially the reason why I didn't go KW but as said, they were in my A3 TDI for 2.5 years and never missed a beat bar one occassion. I had a full car a lot of the time and no issues.
 
I hope you got the FK's. These Weitecs are ****** crap. :)

Your not waisting any time mate, ull have my old A3 looking like a different motor (and there was you saying your not gona mod it until next year, lol) ill have to have a look at these new rims sometime,
 
dont buy ebay crap coils. ive done that mistake... n8kow opened my eyes and from friday i will be in weitec coils club:)
 
ebay specials, mmm cant beat them. When your fitting them you can have a snack and eat them as they are made of cheddar.

LOL Matt,exactly what the misses said,but once coilovers are on that its for this year,famous last words.....It looks so different already,just with the bentleys on......gonna look good low.

come on n8kow helped me out.was that expression - buy cheap - buy twice?:) i got bouncy french coils very stiff and with squeaking noise from rear. how will i sell them?:) glad i signed up here. good:D im getting emotional now:)
 
I'll buy some, KWs? F88K OFF, all you need is HOT TUNING, they cost £40 to make and they are £35 delivered from belgium, oh yeah, delivery is £40 of that. LMFAO
