Hi,
I know that most folks dont like the Audi Ipod adapter, but I have just got one from Ebay, which I am having trouble getting to work Just wondering if anyone can help.

I cant aford an RNSe at the moment.

The Ipod adapter is a genuine Audi model 8E0 051 444.

I have recently bought myself an 09 A3 sportback black edition wich is fitted with the Concert II, Double Din Radio. It has an AUX input and no seperate CD player.

So first question, should that adapter work with my radio? Cos I have tried attaching the Ipod adapter to the connector at the rear of the radio (it fits where the AUX connector slots into) but it is not found by the radio, it uses different pins than the wiring to the Aux input.

I adjusted the Radio coding with my VCDS so that CDC appears in the menu now but still nothing. Just a message saying No CDC found. There seems to be no signal or power getting to my Ipod from the radio as it doesnt charge and the Audi rings dont appear on the Ipod.

Do I have to recode anything else to get it to work or is this model of adapter not compatible.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks
Phil

I know it wont help you as you have aready bought the audi one but i just fitted the dension 100 start to finish 10 mins

I retrofitted my audi ipod adapter to my single din Concert2 HU, am sure i connected it to the cdchanger pins at the back of the HU. works fine and ipod adapter pins just slot into the plastic connectors.

I had an Audi iPod adaptor factory fitted to my lastest A3. When I removed the Concert head unit to add some wiring for my TomTom I could see that the wires for the iPod adaptor were just added to one of the large multi-pin connectors on the back of the set.

Thanks guys.
Looks like I may have the wrong cable as the one I have connects to the pins where the AUX input is not the CD player. That would explain why its not being picked up. Looks like a trip to the local dealer to see if I can get a CD connecting block the rewire it for the Ipod. Should have bought a Denison!!!

Here is a PDF file showing the connections on the back of the radios. The Ipod interface using the CD connections.

I bought a Dension interface for my wife's Polo. What a load a rubbish. In the end we bought a VW interface kit off eBay. All fitted OK and worked with no problems, just like my Audi unit.

Aha,
Thanks for the PDF. I do have the right cable, the Aux input and CD both use the same blue connector, so I will have to refit the Aux points to the ipod blue connector. It also looks like I have to pull a brown wire form the black connector to loop it to the Ipod connector. WHY do Audi make things so difficult?

I'll take some pics incase anyone wants to see it wired, thats if I can get it wired as I am trying to read some german translation of how to fit it.

Hi All,
Im new here so HI !!!!

I have an 05 a3 (2.0 t) with the double din bose conert II system (atleast i think it is- its the one with the built in 6 cd changer), and prior to me being able to warrant getting an rns-e i would like to connect my iphone to my system, so... whats the verdict? is it best to go for an audi connector of some sort or the dension kit?

And does anyone know the prices of each?

Thanks
Dan

I don't suppose you still have the instructions/manual for this kit? I need the wiring diagram for the mini ISO, not quad link, so i know which wires go into which holes on the block connector on the rear of my 2004 Concert II HU. Thanks.

All fitted & functioning perfectly. I have full control of my iPhone 4, i haven't been locked out like some iPods are. I don't know if it's because i have fitted the genuine VW version (P/N: 000 051 444 K) into my 2004 Audi A3 or because i'm using an iPhone 4 & not an iPod but i have full control with my iPhone!!! No stereo re-coding was needed either!! It just started straight up when i double clicked the CD button so i don't know what my local Audi dealer was talking about, £40 to re-code something that didn't need re-coding after all! The question is would Audi have told me & not charged me if they realised it wasn't needed!! Sounds amazing too!!!
