As some of you will know the problems I had with my A4 laterly, I thought it was time to get shot and as Im not one to sell to an ususpecting punter I decided to trade it in.

Bad news is I now own Jap Crap :( a Honda Accord 1.8 SE VTEC and it sucks compared to my old A4. The good news is its only till begining of the year then all going well I'll be Audi hunting again.

Really miss my A4 though :'(

ahh well only for a sort time. is it the build quality? or what?

Aye build quality isn't as good even the panels are really thin and VTEC is a joke (but I always new that any way) it is an ok car for the money though.

What was wrong with the Audi mate???

Centre diff is ********, both cats are goosed as are other parts of exhaust (been welded several times and I reckon removing exhaust to replace diff will mean full new system), Front discs are shot and rear caliper is ******** too also rust has started on arches.

:(

Well, good luck on the hunt when u go for another. Wot u planning on replacing it with when you do, another B5?

Really not sure what to get next, I love the B5's but they are starting to get a little old now however Im not keen on any of the newer ones. Would love a B5 S4 next but the age of them coupled with the fact that its an engine out for 90% of things is putting me off again. I might go old school and get me a URq but still costly :-/

No way Z didnt think you would get shot of it but i suppose it is less hassle now and at least you are only going jap crap for a short while!Catch you later at the meet

Think i allready seen it silver one pretty sure i passed you earlier up by insh's looks ok

I should point on on the side of "VTEC" that your car probably doesnt have proper VTEC.

There are 3 or 4 systems branded as VTEC, but they dont all give the expected power hike.

I suspect your accord has what they term VTEC-E, which is designed to improve economy and low end efficiency, rather than improving power as proper VTEC does in the various "Type-R" models.

Hmm didn't know that but I have driven a couple of Hondas with "VTEC" and felt the same about them.

In particular a JDM Civic SiR & a JDM Gold Badge Prelude 2.2
Their owners kept on about how great VTEC was and I felt it was all noise and no go

Been in a few UK & JDM Type R Tegs & Civics too

Ye i personally dont like the highly strung NA engine much at all either.

Mate of mine has an E36 M3 Evo, and while its quick, it doesnt really do anything till about 5k, and i think it get a bit ****** off constantly wringing its neck to get the power out of it. I'd imagine a Type-R would be the same. Sometimes you just want some go, without having to work its **** off, and thats when more capacity and some turbos really comes into its own.

Yeah even my 2.6 while not being particularly quick it had the power there all the time, cant be ***** having to rag a car constantly just to get a responce

Sound like you need to move on the the B6 A4:)

Although I am starting to warm to the B6 it just doesnt do the same for me as a B5 :(

my mate has a B6 avant in the same colour as mine and whilst externally I don't like it as much, internally it makes mine look very dated

I'm of two minds about the interior.

Theres not that much between them, especially facelift cars, maybe a B7 with satnav etc integrated might be a different story.

And when you compare it with many (albeit cheaper) newer cars even the B5's interior is much nicer. Was in a 2004 Mk6 Fiesta recently (the outgoing model) and its interior was a horrible expanse of the cheapest most horrible looking plastic i've ever been in. I know where i'd rather be sitting out of those two!

It seems that Audi are the only brand who haven't lost the plot with their interior designs... BMW have dumped the cockpit style which worked so well in the E38/39s, Mercedes have gone for a sort of BMW/Audi hybrid...

The B5, at least for the driver, was a pretty good environment to be sitting in.

Yup the B5 interior was way ahead of its time, very comfortable and certainly does not feel or look cheap. Cant say Ive been in a B6 but the B7 was nice inside however it didnt have much of a sporty feel but it was just a 2.0T FSI.

It's interesting, I drove a B8 2.0TDi and found the same. Maybe it's just too refined? It all felt a bit heavy, inert. I felt like a passenger, rather than the driver. Bit boring in silver with a black interior, too...

you should get a nice facelift b5 1.8t quattro sport like mine.:yum: ny mate had a crx vt and the it would be about the same as an s3 prob. it ran 14.6 on the 1/4 mile and when v-tec came in it sounded mental. it just kept pulling and pulling.

A B5 1.8TqS would cost me too much to get remapped S4 power plus its money I will never get back when I sell it whereas the remapped S4 will hold its value far better and I will lose little on it

i would like an s4 too but insurance is way more than i am now and its about £100 more than an rs4 to insure an s4 for some reason.if i ever get round to it or have the money i want to put a t28 on mine but i would need to make a proper list of all the bits i need before starting. there dont seem to be all that many of them about.

Well thats me a week with the new car and OMFG I MISS MY AUDI :(

I now need to decide whether to keep this till after my wedding in February or ditch the bird and get an S4 now :search:
