I've done alot of searching and reading on here about lowering and have decided to go for ether eibach pro or street springs for now. but there are not that many pics on here of a side view of an avant with them fitted.
Can you help so that i can do a comparison between two pics.

no pictures, but personally i would go for the Pro kit, as it is designed for handling and a good quality ride. instead of the street kit just being low and cheap.

i have a pic of craigs car on the pro-kit as hes lazy and wont post his own :p

Cant see why one would want it any lower tbh, and it rides perfectly.

I should point out craigs springs are for an Avant 2.5TDi Quattro as they dont make a S4 saloon pro kit any more, and these had very similar spring rates. If i did it again i'd have used the saloon 2.5 TDi Q springs, as it does sit up ever so slightly at the rear.

technically not an s4 but all OEM S4 body on lowered 1.8t avant

Am I mad in thinking these just shouldnt be lowered as the balance from the factory is just so sweet no?

I would replace the dampers with genuine jobbies if you bother to replace the springs...also the bump stops all round, rear drop links(if the crappy plastic ones are fitted !), and the track rod ends(replace them with the b6 s4 ones as they are one piece metal jobbies!) and then take the car for a 4 wheel tracking...Make shure the place you choose know what they are doing !

too low is different to a 30-40mm drop which improved my handling no end

I found craigs car sat a bit "nose up" on the stock springs.

The front of his S4 was higher than the front of our 1.8T, but the rear was lower.

After fitting the eibachs it took the stance above, which didnt drop it much at the rear at all, but levelled it right out.

Also provides a perfect balance between stiffness and ride height i think.

Thanks for the pics guys.
Are all the pics of the Pro kit?
What would be the closest spring rates for my S4 avant because its going to be differant to the saloon.

I very much doubt all those pics are of the Pro-Kit.

The 2.5 TDi Quattro Avant Pro-kit will suit your avant just fine. We used that pro-kit on craigs saloon and if you look at the pic you'll see theres a tiny bit of rake. I'd imagine on an avant it would sit down a tiny amount at the rear levelling it out.

There IS an S4 Pro-kit, but its more expensive, and i think the 2.5tdi kit is close enough a match that it shouldnt be a problem, however either should work, although you may find the real S4 kit will sit a little higher.

Thanks, Craigs car looks good and as you say a few more mm are the rear if it was an avant. I'm also getting my alloys sprayed dark met gray so will look similar.
