My car... a work in progress

good stuff heh that meguire specially for the price wait till you clay it mate and your paint goes stupidly smooth its great ......HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT DROPPING YOUR CAR WOULD LOOK BETTER ASWELL
But over all its coming on nicely mate
And yeah thats what i said black surround with cupra lip lol.... where did you get your bumper sprayed and how much did they do a good job the col match flakes etc ?????

Yeah I wanted to clay it but the wee babbie needed a few bits so knew time was short...
I ended up getting the bumper sprayed by a mate of mine who works in an accident repair bodyshop (large one) near to me... had forgot he worked there until I bumped into him... anyway, cost me £300 for front & rear plus he fitted the mesh to front bumper & rear chrome pipe extensions. The match up was pretty good, flek is present in most colours I could recognize on oem paint, the colour is very slightly darker on the bumpers than bodywork, but you have to be right next to the car looking at a certain angle in very sunny weather.... basically hard to notice. Apart from leaving the red bit behind the grill (which I guess he never thought I'd see!) it's a pretty good job. He's gonna respray the part behind grill too! Cheeky ******...

No that's cool N8KOW, I am not 100% on keeping it on myself... but that's more due to a few details on the finish... Most people that have seen it have liked it, may just conceed and get a oettinger or caractre one. But not before a FBMFSW though:eyebrows:
As I said before, I appreciate the honesty! What about the rest of the car mate :)

Sorry mate, I aint read the whole thread but how about a upper, rear roof spoiler? Like a S line one, keeping it OEM.

FBMFSW is a must man!!!!!! The car looks decent, you just need a nice big drop on coilys and you'll be fine. I'll get some pics of mine posted up soon when I get the 20"s on.

Yes mate I have this on my list, forgot to add above. Definitely need to add this, must have a word with my parts dude as £180 for it + spray costs has always ****** me off :) I'm such a cheapskate :asskicking:

Looking to drop it very soon.... it's crying out to be dropped, lol. Probably go the spring route and save a little for the FBMFSW :eyebrows:

Where's these pics then N8KOW?:photo: Looking forward to seeing these 20's on. What are they btw?

First piece of my Audi a3 interior jigsaw arrived today, as seen below.

%21BRkn2PwBWk%7E$%28KGrHgoH-CMEjlLly1TnBJ-vY+uS5Q%7E%7E_12.JPG

Supplied by a member of ASN... Cant wait to get rid of the masses of CD's in the glovebox and everywhere else in place of a few SD cards!

Will also be nice not to feel like smashing my single din piece of crapola stereo to pieces when it fails to play my burnt cd's!

[skips off merrily]

More jigsaw pieces flying in from germany... bluetooth arrived today, after a couple of nervous days of non-response from the seller (after I'd paid). All's well that end's well...

2009 model bluetooth module & antenna, got it for a decnt price of the bay... I just hope it works :)

Need a lil hand on what to get done next.... kinda spoilt for choice over -
. Jamex coilovers/ H&R springs
. Remap :racer::eyebrows:
. FBMFSW

either the remap or spring for me, a steerin wheel can wait where as power and exterior looks are more important imo!

Yeah i am probably going for the map. As you rightly highlight, the wheel is more of a finishing touch than, part of the puzzle... Not sure whether to attend the chip n' spin remap day on 30th or go with the ST3 multi map/ one of competitors

Decisions, decisions...

the st3 is a great bit of kit
i was a little sceptical initially but once its on for a couple mins and "warms up" you can significantly tell the difference from "stock" to "race"
and the 2 times i had it on "eco" you can even tell the performance difference from "stock"
although i, like many others, just want more power now lol
with the remap OFF it feels VERY slow

Well finally got round having my Sharkfin, RNS-E, Blue tooth, MFSW & SDS hack installed!

Still getting to grips with operations, but pretty much got it now... Only PITA at the minute is the fact my Nokia E71 will not pair with the blue tooth, while I've tried the iphone which works fine as well as a mates Samsung Tocco and the misses' blackberry bold... Kinda frustrating as the iphone is just mainly used for mobile net/ mail. and the E71 is the main work number! Ah well, still enjoying talking to my car, lmao! And never really liked the E71 Anyway!!! :eyebrows:

Need to get my new hazard light switch as you will notice, and it will be complete. Also got my rear LED face lift tail lights coded at last, so they now only show the 'ring' without break light being dimly on 24-7. Looks much better now...

I Have a set of 312mm MK5 GTi pads, discs, calipers & carriers to go on as well...

Need a good clean first though!

Hi Ash mate,

Here the fella that's going all out with big brake kit, big turbo upgrade and the other stuff you have planned, lol :) Just kidding!

I had some cash stashed for the car, ended up getting quite a good deal for the car originally (by most accounts). So had the extra dough to do the mods... I initially wanted an S-line 06' vintage but the prices compared to what I payed for mine were circa £4k more, hence the sport & **** load of Mods :)

I paid £90 for the brakes, the kind fella was working near me and also delivered! Initially paid £120 inc delivery, but was refunded £30... Their are still some good folk about man!

Hi Diggz, I didn't go to Southampton, lol... I went to NHN's place...
The SDS hack allows you to talk commands via the blue tooth mic to the RNS-E unit- essentially voice control. Very handy as well, and only requires a software upgrade & few repair wires to complete once the ret of the gear is in place.

yeah as ashley says, the old single din hazard light switch sits further back than double din one. Hence it's slightly further back than it should be.

Don't worry about it mate, still got a bit of mesh left if you need more.

nice mods there, same colour as mine and you've done some of the mods im planning to do to mine, same as you i wanted an s line, but again there was a massive premium and this one came up waaaaay below average prices so couldnt say no.

so plan to put the s line bumper and roof spoiler on and also change the wheels from TT wheels to RS4 or S line items.

where do you get most of the bits ? ebay?

Cheers pal,

Yeah it's good business mate... The S-line premium is high and I'm not 100% sure it's worth it. Apart from bumpers, and black headlining I think I prefer the paino black trim. I'd like the S-line seats but they're identical to mine, just no imprint. So, I think I done alright, as you probably have to.

Most bits were bought from ebay, took a while to get it all together though. It's usually freely available if you know what your looking for, half my problem was I didn't :)

Good choice of car mate, I like mine alot!

Forgot... Also got one of NHN's trademark placement :haha: aux in ports. Under the handbrake, prefer it over the oem placement.

Now that was a long long day Ric huh, think we finished at midnight, finally got my car back together after ripping it apart for you, lol, but hey alls good as gave me the effort to actually put everything else back for my trip for now, will rip it out again when doing mods in Italy, lol.

Only if you pull ur finger out of ur red wheels **** & go measure that bolt for me, lol

Yes Nige, was some day, and the puncture changed at 2am.... and the 4am airport visit! Lol... Was well worth it :icon_thumright:

Lol im doing all this so i keep the car and dont get one for my 20th birthday next year. Plus i like every thing about my A3 its just the little engine, that does my heading lol! And i wont be selling the car even when i get a new one, so decide might aswell be happy and spend :) Lol just modding mate its a virus!!! You know how it is ;)

Dont blame you mate! Sounds like you got a good deal plus extra money left over! Extra £4k!!! Some prices on A3 i've seen lately are stupid. But then you do get some really good clean exampes at a good price.
How many mods you done now? I dont even want to think how much mine gonna cost all together! Because i could buy another car!!!Sounds like you got yourself a good deal! Yeah there are still some good people around these days! You think you will ever be finished with the car?

that one thing mine doesnt have, is the aux in port, really want one. so i can run an ipod threw it.

yeah i have the same leather seats as you i think.

would like to fit nav as well but will see how it goes, as this is only a family car and not my toy, just wanted it to look a bit nicer.
