Does anyone use BP ultimate or simlar?

If so does it give betetr performance and economy as stated?

A!

I have used Shell V power before and did not not think it made any difference at all. I normally use Shell extra as I find it best for mileage/MPG

Just out of interest what sort of MPG/milage do you get on a tank?

I get around 48mpg but drive with a rather heavy right foot.

90% of my milage is done on motorway too.

I might try putting a tank in and do a comparison...

A!

Wow thats good  whats it remapped too? On Shell extra I get about 550 miles and between 43-44 mpg per tank average :notme:

no not remapped yet.

As i said 90% of my driving is motorway, so I recon I should be getting around 46-50mpg.

A!

Sorry cant read :keule:
My route is mostly A roads and country lanes so I suppose my MPG not too bad... :yahoo:

We ran the wife's previous Leon FR150 on Shell Diesel Extra from new and then swapped to using V-Power for the last 6 months she had it.

There was a noticeable improvement in throttle response and it would pick up better from low revs (no less black smoke though), but the downside was that average mpg was down by 1.5mpg.

Would be interesting to see if it does actually produce anymore power or not.

Ive used normal shell extra, then swapped to vpower for a month or so then diesel extra with Millers Power Sport 4, the extra+millers gets the most out of a tank and got the most powerful feeling/response from the seat of the pants dyno too.
It also works out £1 a tank more where vpower works out at about £3-£4 more depending on the £/l at the time, so its cheaper too.
Its made DPF full alerts less frequent too, was about once a month now every 2-3 and on my g/fs Ibiza FR which has the 130PD with no DPF theres hardly any soot when burying the throttle, it used to look like her car ran on coal!

Just to revive this one a little...

After having my 2.0tdi 140 remapped, I used V power diesel (about £20 worth). The car felt fast as I had just had it remapped and I was happy.

This week I went back to the normal stuff from Shell, and my days, what a difference. At first I thought something was wrong as the car felt less responsive and agressive. But then I realised that I ahd changed fuel.

I am now going to run on V power all the time as it makes a big difference in my eyes (or mind).

It would be interesting to see the difference in power, but 5th gear did a test on their citron C5 155bhp and it made 10-12 bhp difference if I remember.

So to sum up, in my opinion 5p/L extra is well worth it!:icon_thumright:

I used shell v-power for a while in my 2.0 TDI A3 and also noticed a big difference in responce and mpg, 45-50mpg, 500+ out of a tank on long motorway drive doing an average speed of 80 - 90 and around 450+ with every day driving, but like black on black switched to the fuel treatment, Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 and normal esso diesel and get the same gains as v-power just cheaper

I'm not the only one feeling this then! Also it seems to rev a lot smoother and I get pushed into the seat more than I just used Shell Extra!

Most say, I have run a god few tanks of Shell V-Power diesel and BP ultimate, and having gon e back to normal shell diesel the car doesn't feel as responsive.

Never did believe the hype over 'premium' diesel.Used to have an old xantia that would do an extra 75 mile to the tank if I used total though....strange.So when i got my a4 b7 140 in 2006 i tried the lot, made no differance...same performance and always 37 mpg.not 36 or 38, always 37 whether i booted it or not.So, three months ago i got my new a4 b8 170 (big mistake) and again tried them all.Has 2500mile on the clock and is doing 30-32mpg even when i drive carefully...havent really booted it properly might try that next tank.So Im getting 60% of the manufacturers guide for mpg.Of course these figures are pie in the sky, but 40% off the mark?My dealer states that this is common problem with the avants (what diff between avant and saloon fu*k knows)and that hopefully an update will remedy it.(yeah right).Whilst observing the average mpg on the dis, it ranges from 14mpg(from cold or in traffic) to 39mpg, averaging out to 32mpg/400 miles to a tank.So to me, it makes no differance.Shame that.

V-power petrol always made a massive difference on my old clio sport and focus ST so i would image it will be the same with my diesel 3.0 Audi.

Although having just had her mapped again she already feels very very quick, what the hell i may try this on the next fill up as ive never used performance diesel before.;)

:jump:I fill up with shell performance diesel, it does seem to make a difference. If you have just had yours remapped you might not notice as much as it will feel different to you anyway. Try it in a few months when you have got "used" to the extra power, you should feel a significant difference.
I tried millers power sport 4 in with performance diesel and it did seem to feel better but not sure if it was just physcological.

Filled up with this today myself, not sure to be honest, car seemed to be abit more sluggish but only time will tell i shall continue to test it, perhaps it has not yet cleaned up all the crap left from normal diesel, i suppose it may take 1 or 2 tank fulls before the car is cleaned and the ECU learns to use the new fuel.

I checked and the cheapest BP ULTIMATE DIESEL to me is 111.9p whereas the cheaspest V-POWER DIESEL is 105.9p, so i went with the V-POWER as it is upposed to be better for the engine.

Ok ive just finished work and drove home, all i can say is F**k Me.

I take back what i have said this stuff is rocket fuel.

My mpg has gone through the roof and the car feels very fluid and feels like it just wants to keep going, feels much better this morning so much have worked over night cleaning my injectors lol

I only work about 2 miles from home but by the time i was home the car when cold was up to 35mpg, now it is up to 50mpg!! and my estimated mileage is going up even when i boot it! if it stays like this for a whole tank i will be very impressed.

Not sure about those figures mate, its good but its not magic!!! You dont get the extra economy if you use the extra power. Ive noticed extra pull with mine but economy is negligable, it only really makes a difference if im taking it steady

No idea mate, all i know is what my dials are saying and they are keeping the mpg higher than normal!.

The engine obviously seems to like this fuel.

That 50mpg was taking it steady and the dials just kept on climbing as i never boot the car when cold.

Like i say so far so good, i shall just have to see what i end up getting from the full tank and compare it to normal diesel.
