Hi All,

I have just purchased a sprint blue 07reg RS4 (superb monster of a machine!!) and had a couple of questions with regard to the sat nav / dvd systems that I was hoping someone (with more experience / a greater knowledge :icon_thumright: may be able to help with :)

1. Is there any way of downloading / updating the maps on the sat nav system as some are a little out of date (I guess by the age of car a few years old minimum!!)?

2. I cannot eject the navigation dvd for some reason and so am unable to play dvd movies etc on the system - I know some have TV / Technology Pack as an option and mine certainly does not have the ability to watch TV!! Does this mine I need to purchase this upgrade to be able to watch dvd's on it or am I being really thick and doing something wrong?

Many Thanks for all your help people and if you want any further information please let me know. :kissmyrings:

Oli

The factory Nav's are usually locked to stop theft of disks. Ask your dealer to unlock it or find someone with VAG COM to unlock the adaptation channel.

You cannot play DVD's on the system regardless of TV pack or whatever. Only way to play DVD's is with an external DVD player, video input device and TV in motion coding.

Hi Again - does anyone know anything on the possibility of upgrading the sat nav - is it possible and if so do you have to buy a new disc from Audi / a recognised supplier or are you able download updates, etc?

Also I have synched my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to the bluetooth phone system in the car and it all works except it will not load up my phone book - does anyone have any ideas on this?

Many thanks for all your help and sorry for being a thicko / newbie!!

You can get an updated disc from Audi, but they're not cheap. Worth looking on ebay. I'm still using an 07 disc so it's say's I'm offroad if I'm going down some new bypass etc.

Phone syncing can be hot or miss sometimes. It usually takes a few mins for all my contacts to show up, but some phones just don't seem to have full integration.

Nice choice of motor, fastest colour too ;)

Updated DVDs are often on eBay - make sure you get the Western Europe DVD (DVD 1), and that you get an RNS-E DVD and NOT an MMI one (that won't work in your RS4). The latest easily available is the 2009 DVD 8P0 919 884 AD, the 2008 is suffix AA. There is a 2009_2 version out with suffix AJ but that's as rare as hens teeth at the moment, and a UK Audi dealer probably won't recognise the part number yet!

You may need to download and install a Contacts Manager onto your phone from the Nokia website.

Have contacts sync'd from a previous phone?

Thanks Dave.

Yes I also have a Blackberry Storm which I had previously synched and it worked but the Nokia is my work phone and really need that one working in the car!! I had a brief flip through the manual and think it was saying the system automatically stores the last 5 phones it has connected to it and then gets rid of any older ones!! Is there something else I now need to do to get my Nokia phonebook synched?

Check the Nokia website to see if they have a 5800 version of the Contacts Manager to download and install on your phone.

Contacts manager is not required for the 5800, but your phone module has to be a high enough revision, K or higher to work with the 5800.

Thanks - how do I tell what phone module I currently have and if not good enough to work is there anything I can do about it?

Hard way - mark 1 eyeball of the label, the module is in a plastic box under the carpet under the LH front seat.

Easy way - VCDS (VAG-COM) will tell you the part number when you connect to the phone module.

If it's too old you'll need to swap it, there's no way an owner can upgrade the firmware and AFAIK only 1 owner has persuaded a dealer to upgrade the firmware and then there was some personal connection.

I have a full set of 08 dvd's for sale if anyones interested, genuine & boxed in audi cover, both dvd's for east & west europe.

Hi - thanks for the offer of dvd's - will pass at mo as am pretty skint after just buying the car!! :-( just out of interest & for future reference - how much are you seilling them for?

My phone is telling me the connection is with "Audi UHV 1133" - does that mean it is too old to work with the contacts on my 5800XM?

Also is it possible to buy an adaptor for it as I still have the phone holder (ugly thing) stuck out of my middle console bit - if I can buy an adaptor to use this and connect the phone this way instead will I still have same problem with contacts etc?

Sorry for all the thicko questions guys but many thanks again for your help :)
