Hi all...

I've been looking at possibly upgrading the wheels on my A6 Avant.

It currently has the A6 "Competition" alloys (16" I think), which are nice, but I want something a bit sportier to complement the look of the car.

Being relatively inexperienced with this kind of thing, I'd like some opinions on what the biggest/ best/ coolest/ best quality wheels I can get without mucking about with the wheel arches and so on...

The car is a Final Edition variant, and if I remember correctly, it is already lowered 20mm.

Any ideas on what I could go for, how much it might cost, and links to view online would be very much appreciated.

I'd obviously be looking to flog my current wheels (which are pretty much immaculate) to claw back at least some of the cost involved in buying new wheels, so an idea of how much my Competition alloys are worth would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

A.

They are pretty nice, but I prefer a style with thinner spokes, and more of them...

Any ideas?

What about BBS LM's?

They aren't cheap but replicas are available. You would probably want 19's on an A6 for the full effect :)

Ok fair enough, I wouldnt know, that pic just came from a Google image search.

For an audi it really has to be OEM wheels or BBS, although there are alot of BBS style wheels available for less and are good quality.

I went for 20" with 225/35 and the car is lowered 40-50mm.

With the 20mm lowering you have (that the 02- models came with) 18/19/20's will look good and not too much of a gap in the arch as originally I was only planning to drop 20-30mm but this was much more expensive and I couldn't source 02-05 springs.

Anyway here's what 20" AXE AP40's look like on my A6,

They cost......... £1850 3 years ago!

Alot but worth every penny IMO as the strength is second to none, I've had some £600 18" RS6 replica's off ebay, the strength in the wheel was very poor, in 6 months had 2 flat spots due to potholes and that was on stock suspension (not the harder lower ones i now have) whereas the 20's with less tyre, and 3 years use are still straight and in very good nick and i've hit a few potholes.

Although on 20's with the suspension so low the ride has a little to be desired.

If you go 18" tyres are £60ish for budget, 19's are a bit more, I pay £100/tyre for budget.

And you should get £100-£200 for your old wheels, but if i were u i'd keep them, put em back on if u seel it then flog the wheels you buy, that way you'll get the most money back

Thanks for that - I'd be looking for 18s probably - OEM if possible, although I see what you mean about BBS's

I was also looking to get my car tuned from 130 to 160+ bhp, but I've heard that it's not a good idea to tune the CVT variant, so it seems my car will just look quick, rather than actually being quick!

Cheers,
Andy
