So, being efficient and generally super-effective at work I won myself an hour or so to use the facilities we have for car valeting. It doesn't get cleaned all that often, so best do it well.

Also achieved is that I now have it approved that our bodyshop can do my wheel refurbs. I'm probably going with Mercedes Brilliant Silver, but then again....

Any love out there for the wheels of blackness?

And yes, I know it still needs lowering.

nice and clean, probably said a 1000 times you so need facelift lights

Yes. I do. The number of clips 'round the earhole you've given me!

The various things I need to do to the car, I think I'll have to splurge my cash in one go, rather than constantly drizzling money over it. My girlfriend only has so much patience and I've got a constantly growing list to sort out...

I tink it suits the silver more than the blue....but it'd probably look better on the blue if you had facelift lights......;O) oh....and a facelift grill :O)

Oh, I see, now you're giving me facelift GRILLE! So that's another thing for the list.

How about my fuel lines? Are they still fashionable enough?

well.....That's the problem though isn't it? It's like picking at a scab.... once you start you can't stop and you either end up with a ****** mess or nice new smooth finish.... makes you think?...:zen:

When i see our motor drivng up the road with its dark wheels, grille and headlights, its a positively mean look, and i like that!

I think that's the decision pretty much made then. Black gloss, but with the centre caps left brushed alloy. Should set them off nicely.

Hmmmmm. Once I get the alloys off geeman my oem sports are getting refurbed... ^^ that's an idea....

I have a set which failed to sell on fleabay which I could be persuaded to release for a nominal sum, if anyone else wanted the Aragorn look (which is a bit tasty IMO)....

Dont go black, it wont look right on a blue car.

You want anthracite, like mine or JCB's. Its a very dark metallic grey, sometimes has a slight brown tinge, but the versions without that tinge look a bit better.

Compare the color of the astra wheels against the A4 ones and you'll see what i mean.

Then you just need a painted grille (get the wheel guys to do it at the same time) and some joey modded facelift lamps to finish off ;)

Ah, yeah, I think I was meaning anthracite rather than absolute black, one problem with black is that you have to keep your tyres spotless the whole time, brown tyres on black wheels aren't the bomb at all.

I was always planning to paint the grille, but now i'm actually a bit loathe to lose the chrome. I guess I see it as part of the Audi identity. Hmm.

get a spare grille and get it done with the wheels. That way you can compare both.

I painted our badge and grille anthracite, which means you can still make out the audi rings etc against the black grille louvers, but it gives the right look :)

unless its an L reg Astra!!

Heh.

That was a budget build, and seen as it cost me £100 for the car, couple hundered to fix the engine and get it MOT'd and then i added the wheels, some koni dampers i got from ebay for £30 and jamex springs.

I dont think i did too badly for a motability blue astra.
