Picked up my new S3 yesterday after an age. A couple of issues though:

1) Delivery millage was 48 miles, of which 6 is claimed on the dealer PDI - is this normal - previous new cars have had less than 10 miles on.

2) Internal colour - went with option "ZX" which is black and silver alcantara plus silver headlining. However, seat colour looks cream or beige - so in no way matches the head lining and doesn't sit that well in the car (Meteor Grey). So anyone have an opinion on whether this "silver" is supposed to be a grey silver or is this "cream" normal?

Other than that pretty pleased, options include Magnetic Ride, Storage, Blind, Rear Parking and Syphony radio. Performance is OK (have come from a VX220 Turbo, so anything else is going to feel a bit slow!, but need the seats for the school runs etc). Mag ride seems good, but need to try that out more before I decide.

Will sort some pics out, when I get some time at the weekend.

cheers
Paul

In mine its more of a silverish grey. But thats a 2006 a3 sport..might be different in yours. have fun with the car mate!

btw whats magnetic ride?!:uhm:

and as for the delivery millage im sure their taking you and your car for a ride (literately!) should have done more than 15-20 miles usually its around 5-10miles tops 48 just means they must of drove it!

Thought the was wrong - waiting on the dealer to report back on that and the mileage.

Magnetic Ride - clever electronic dampers, as on R8 and TT - can switch between confort and sport modes. TBH it was a gamble on the S3 as I was just going on rave reviews on the TT/R8s. Will need to push it a bit to see if I like it, but there's already clearly a difference between the two modes - so Comfort for kiddies/wife on board, sport for me and a B road.

oh ok hope they dont bullsh*t you like they normally do.

LOL haha have fun mate!

Some dealer bull it seems, the mileage is not uncommon on S/RS models - factory testing - I'm probably happy with that.

Colour - dealer says that's the silver colour, they all look like that, but then says my car attracted a lot of attention in the dealer 'cos it's an uncommon colour combo, and the silver alcantera option is only on S series cars (seems to be the case for the A3 from the brochure), so has he seen it? I'm still not convinced - it's either a mistake at Audi, or their brouchure colours are way way off - true to some extent I know!

mine had 13 miles at collection, maybe I was lucky:haha: can't comment on the colour, can you put up so good quality pics?

Paul,

I wasn't going post as I couldn't find the thread I was looking for when I searched, but a few months ago there was a discussion on here about delivery miles.

In short, this 'factory testing' was found to be ********, similarly the 'factory rollers' theory as the odo is reset afterwards (IIRC). I wish I could find it now (will have better look tonight) as I am sure someone verified this having seen his/one coming of the production line. h5djr also backed this up as the cars are loaded onto train/truck and are only shunted between different bulk transport. Someone did ask for their vehicle to be driven from the port to the dealers though. The common delivery mileage was <10 miles, it did however vary to mid 10s up to high 10s!

Whether or not you are that concerned you are on a high road to nowhere it would appear, as the dealers are well versed in answering this one.

As for colours: I have black/silver leather, so I am not sure this helps much as yours in Alcantara, but the silver is not a vivid silver as you might expect.

That all seems so very negative, so let me say nice car, nice spec and colour, Meteor looks great and there are a few choice examples on here - Decked's springs to mind immediately. :racer:

Not sure if this helps, but I had less than 10 mines on the clock when I picked mine up.... (although I have been told they can reset this, how true that is, is anyones guess) They could of gone to get petrol???
Mine is also Meteor Grey, roof lining looks very similar to the car/carpets. I'll try and find a pic if you like.

The thread was deleted, that's why you can't find it.

You are correct. That was the conclusion. The local dealer gave me the same story about S cars being tested. They weren't honest with me even AFTER I paid for the car. Complete disrespect for the client...

Sound's like you have beige and black , the silver and black is defo grey looking not beige.....

Get some pics up and if its wrong id hit the roof or go through it , the silver and black interior is really nice i so want it on my car , but serious if they have given you beige id so kickoff....

For the colours, the configurator on Audi UK web page has a silver option for LEATHER seats. The alcantara is 'pearlsilver' whatever that means...

EDIT: If you look at the configurator the silver lining and the pearlsilver seats are indeed different, so I wouldn't think it's a mistake...sorry

Thanks GConn, I thought that I was going daft! What happened to the thread then? :uhm:

Picked mine up 2 weeks ago and it had 46 miles on the clock. he said it was delivered to a different garage or something like that. not overly concerned as i can't do anything about it anyway and it seems ok. (and i got a free pen!) :o.k:

oh it does look slightly beige eh ....so it probably is right still nice though

Mine was 37 miles and I got two 'free' keyrings! :rockwoot:

Gonna tackle the dealer in person today about the seats and the milage. Have managed to check the seats against some swatches from the dealer this morning (had A4 booked in) and the colour isn't alabaster white or magnolia, but it's pretty close - i.e. very light - this is not the colour in the printed brochure which is clearly grey. However, you are correct with the on line configurator showing a lighter colour (at least on my monitor) - but we went on the brochure colour when we ordered it. I noted that there's no "small print" clause on the upholstery page, but there is on the exterior colour page!

Meanwhile, anyone recall what was said in the mileage thread, or could you find it in the "Wayback Machine"? http://www.archive.org/index.php

cheers

I remember someone said he had visited the factory. I remember him saying that the rolling-roads-thrahing-for-10-minutes story was a complete lie. The cars travel around 30 metres onto a platform, that's it. Including the S cars.

It was proven through the replies that the testing thing of the S cars is a complete lie too, since many people here got their cars with less than 10 miles on the clock. The salesman here insisted on his stupid story, even after I told him I had asked around.

Hmm - so is there any documentary evididence I can ask for the dealer or Audi showing mileage leaving factory/import docs/dvla?
