Milltek turbo back - Jet style or Special slash style

The s3 has been to awesome gti today to have my milltek fitted, thought i may as well take them up on the free fitting. Picked the car up and thought the exhaust tips dont look right as i had ordered the 80mm special as shown below

I was assured that they were the correct ones, but i was still unsure. So a quick blast over to Iggus to confirm they fitted the wrong tail pipes.

I know I am in my rights to get the ones i ordered fitted, but do i keep the jet style ones as they dont look as bad as they did on millteks flyer???

No, get them to fit what you asked for, simple as that!!

Jet ones look like something of a corsa, lol

the ones fitted look good more conservative but the one on the big picture looks more raw and gritty , i like them both TBH you need to put a pic of yours on the whole back of the car to get a proper pic what they look like ....

I actually like the one you have ended up with.
Other than the tailpipes,are you happy with it,i bet it sounds wicked:thumbsup:
 
I'm not sure I like the look of the Jet style pipes.
Personally I would take it back and ask them to fit the ones you asked for (provided you have proof that you asked for the special tips)
 
They are the new re-designed special tips. I knew I'd seen them some where:

New Special tips

This was done due to discolouring on the single layer special tips.
The difference between Jet and special tips, is basically the angle the tips are cut.
Vertical cut = Jet
Slash cut = Special.

Sounds well mate. Yeah im happy with it. Probably me been fussy but the tail pipe dont look level the left one is higher than the right.

Gona fire them an email over and give them a call tomorrow see what they say, going away working again do it gona have to wait to be fully sorted when I am back

The rear diffuser is at different heights either side of the exhaust????

Just had this prompt reply from reply from Milltek, confirms what jamie and others have said

Hi Matt

Many thanks for your email.
We recently revised the design of the S3 rear silencer to include the double skin Special 80mm tail trims as a number of customers reported discolouration of the single skin trims.

We investigated the issue and concluded that the single skin design wasn’t adequate enough to handle the exhaust gas temperatures as they were prematurely discolouring.

The jet tail pipes you mention are an inwardly rolled 80mm tail pipe design.
We have recently taken pictures of the current two available tail pipe options and the website will be updated in the near future.

Hope this explains the change in design.

I still think its unlevel maybe it just needs an adjustment. looking at this pic below its how it should be ie level

matt id defo stick with them they look really nice but i took your pic in photoshop and drew 2 straght lines one on the bumper and one accross the top of the two exausts and even though the pic is off angle the lines show the exaust to be slightly off angle the right one defo need's lifting up ever so slightly , But i think there nicer than the other's and would stick with em just bend the right one up about 5 mm even if it is an optical illusion which i dont think it is this would eliminate it how much you pay by the way ?? did you get a full turbo back or just the backbox

I concur, its not level, personally Matt, I'd go back ask for what you wanted originally & also get them to make sure they're straight, you dont need our opinions on what you want on your car mate, afterall its your car & you'll be seeing it day in day out

I have also spoke with Awesome and its going in when i get back from Italy to have them realigned, all is well !!!!!!!!

i like the one's he's got now the oem rolled tip on mine get full of soot in like a day after ive cleaned em.... the one matt has now i think look's better and may take less cleaning to ...
