I tidied up my calipers today, after doing the RS4 rear sway bar......

I intended to 'go red' but chickened out:

Rear:

Cos it's such an easy job today, they may go red yet!

Very nice indeed.

What did you use and how did you do it then? :)

good job, same decals as i have and same position!hmmm great minds think alike lol:p

Simply a case of:

  • Remove the wheels
  • Clean the calipers with some brake cleaners, and a wire brush
  • More brake cleaner
  • Then painted using this:

  • Added the stickers
  • Replaced the wheels
 Yes - I couldn't believe it either. The paint is less than £3 from Wilko's and lasts for years on calipers :icon_thumright:

Tidied up the disc whilst I was at it too:

Seriously considering redoing in red though

very good indeed.

and as i have a wilko discount card, even better:)

i presume you brushed it on. did you mask up or go freehand?

definately something i need to do.

I presume the decals are from ebay? got a linky? :)

looks really nice, but as you say red would look killer

Yeh, good work! :icon_thumright:

Nice job, busy day today then!

I think red would look good on your colour car ;)

I actually did the initial coat using the spray version - masking off using a large towel :eyebrows: then I touched up the edges using the brush on version, and a brush.

I used ebay item:

That said you can just search 'Audi Caliper Decal' for other suppliers. I was very tempted to use some 'brembo' stickers if I'm honest, and if I 'GO RED' I probably will.

Well I've got some red paint now........so watch this space!

That looks really good mate, well done :)

Oh yes....the black look nice and clean and discreet...but who wants discreet lol

LOL - I was more bothered about the fact that I spent all that time doing them, only to find you couldn't really see them :photo:

Personally I think red looks best, some how 'lifts' the tone of the car and hey - 9/10 people won't even know they're there! :keule:

Looking good mate.

Think I would stay with Black but Red does look good!

Lol I often think that about things I do, but as long as YOU know they're there ;)

I did mine in black, and they look nice with the wheels off, but like you say when you put the wheels on you dont really notice them!

Hi guys some of this sites members have used our decals and posted on another thread on here, we sell a set of 12 for £5 delivered, we also have the S-Line decals, www.qhstore.co.uk Cheers all :)

I honestly cant decide what colour to go for so i think im just going to go for red, anyone fancy photoshopping some red callipers with a white s line logo onto these images for me? bearing in mind im fitting new discs soon and redstuff pads!

Personally mate i wouldn't go for red on your car.

I agree I think, on the blue car IMO gloss black would look better. Red is fine if you have huuuge Brembo's but, especially with the smaller rear calipers I think red can draw attention to how small they look!

So where do i get brembos then? lol

Wass not sure about red anyway so may go with black or silver!

Lol everyone says a different thing on here so do what you feel is best

Brembo covers are freely available on ebay for about £12 a pair ;)

Don't go for these, they will look very cheap!

Dazmo IMO you need to keep the class look with your car. Red would make it look a bit "saxo". I agree either black or a darker shade of silver behind those wheels would look good. The front calipers on the 3.0 are quite beefy so even a darker colour will draw attention.

No offence to anyone with red calipers, each to their own.

Just to clarify, that was a joke! :tumble:

I know mate, I forgot to put a smiley on the end of my comment. Lol.

Caliper painting is a minefield, I've got an idea on what i want to do with mine but won't post my idea till I see the results, it might look rubbish.

My front calipers are hugh and would look great red but like previously mentioned the rear calipers are alot smaller and may look abit silly painted red so i reckon black is probably best to keep that smart look.

I still like the idea of red though as it looks so much cooler.

The thing for me was you do what you think suits you, and if you don't like it - it's not a big job to change the colour again..........as I did.

The paint I've used is really good for this, and about £3 a go (enough to do all four!).

My biggest problem was waiting for new stickers

Did you use hamerite smooth? doesnt this give a satin finish.

Or can you buy it in glossy and matt?

After a few tips from Rich, I also have a set of red calipers on my Audi and jolly-nice they are too. I was changing the pads anyway, stealers quoted £61 for a front set, got some decent Mintex ones, £42 for front + back

Also stuck the Audi decals on the front set and they look really nice, haven't done any on the back as I can't work out where I can put them to any effect.

Thanks to Rich for his help.
