Any time :) If there any other question. Check FAQ its a sticky thread. Loads of useful threads in there mate. How you finding the 2.0fsi? Enjoying it? Got any other plans for it?

Thanks

Ashley

Im loving it Ashley, its not the colour i wanted black, but i only paid £3750 for it with 68k on the clock so i cant complain, i managed to get some secondhand new style RS6 19s with tyres off fleabay which i have put on.:yum:

Sounds like you got yourself a real good deal! £3,750 cant complain at all!! :) What colour you got?Have to get some photos up with the RS6 alloys on! Cant go wrong with them! Any other mods in might? Besides front end and alloys?

Congrats. ****** hell, that was a good deal. They can't be that cheap now can they ? :(

Nah it was a young couple on ebay who put it on for auction their dad had just given them a 2.0 quattro 05 plate for next to nothing, he had it on auction starting at 4k with no reserve and rang him up 10 mins after it went on and paid him a paypal deposit and he removed it (THANK GOD) i got my dads mechanic to check it for me and he gave it the thumbs up with just a couple of niggly things, so i rang him and bartered for 100 off for tax and the passenger lower door trinm had come loose so i pushed for 150 off and he said yes. i had to go down to West Sussex to fetch it and even when i collected i asked him for the nearest petrol station and a quick route to the M23 they said the tank is full and we will take you to the junction. I think God was smiling on me that day. Its a great car not perfect but then again £5995 from the garage is too rich for me to buy the same thing

was going to say the same, I paid £8K a year ago but with 20K on the clock! Mind you cars are always more expensive in Scotland & there has been a large crash since then.

Dont worry about the diesel drivers, they just say its slow because they forget & change up too soon LOL

Enjoy the car.

Cheers khufu i have noticed of late A3s 8p prices seemed to have got stronger than they were 8 weeks ago, mind you a trader friend has told me used car prices have pricked up in the last 6-7 weeks

Enjoy the car, for that price you can start modding it (tastefully) as well.

I've only had mine a year & have already replaced the entire interior, done the front end conversion & fitted new wheels, suspension etc. Finally stopped!

Despite what everyone says I still think the 2.0 Fsi is a great engine, really nice smooth power delivery & fantastic on the juice. I'd have it over a stinky rattly diesel any day ;)

I am always a little confused by how badly people talk about the 2.0 fsi in comparison to the 2.0 tdi 140.

Apart from the economy of a diesel (although I agree that the fsi is good on fuel too. I managed over 400 miles on less than a tank last weekend - motorway driving), and I also understand that if you want to remap it then you're better off with the tdi, but in standard form looking at the performance stats the fsi beats the tdi.... i.e. power and acceleration.

But still people call it a 'dog', but talk about how good a standard tdi is.

Never understood that.

I agree, I think it's fast enough for the car. Could do with some more oomph sometimes in low revs, but it's got a good progressive power curve. If I had the choice I'd much prefer a newer turbo'd petrol though ;)

I'm not slagging the diesel, I also have a MK6 TDI Golf 2.0 . The torque on the diesel is better, but the lag is also infuriating. I find the Audi much more fun when driving around town. I'm not trying to start yet anothe petrol vs diesel debate, but the FSI doesn't deserve that much flack.

Further question on the front end conversion, if i buy a standard facelift bumper will i need to change any fitting for where my existing foglights go ??? ie grills or will the fog and grill fittings off the old bumper fit staight in ???

PS if anyone has a 05 onwards bonnet for sale please PM me :sign_plug:

No the existing foglights & surrounds will fit. The surrounds from the double grill are slightly different (about 2cm too short) but will fit if you cut a bit of plastic off the bottom (you'll see) & look fine. I did the conversion & still used my original fogs & surrounds.

Some correct info.

You dont need a new reinforcement bar, you just need to trim your existing one down on 2 edges which is easily done, this will work exactly as stock & wont affect any crash you may have given newer ones have this done aswell, I did this for my S3 front & it is perfect.

The fogs would need changing if you intend to fit sline/s3 front, given yours is a sport they have a flat edge fog, where as the sline/s3 have rounder fogs, JB has an sline which is why his fitted fine on newer front end, where as yours wont dependent on the front end you fit, for sline/s3 fogs you need to change the plugs aswell, easily done.

TBH if you're planning this upgrade I would do either sline or s3, going from sport to sport tbh wouldnt be that pleasing, only IMHO that is.

Sorry NHN, I did the same upgrade as funkcliffe is planning. Mine was a double grill Sport (I added all the s-line spec to it later).

I also bought an extra bumper re-inforcement bar which it turns out I didn't need. I didn't need to trim my bar to fit the newer style bumper.

A standard 05 onwards single grill bumper fits fine & all existing fogs & surrounds from the double grill also do. The only difference is the black plastic behind the fins on the surround is slightly shorter, so there's a bit of a gap if you looked down at the car from ground level (but is barely noticeable).

All you need is the bumper, grill & bonnet.

Here's mine below after the upgrade..

Ah ok so yours is a sport anyway, not an sline as per sig, makes sense now fogs fitting, well if he intends to update the sport front to a sport front single grill then fogs will be fine, if you want sline/s3 front then note you need to change the fogs & plugs.

It's an S-line technically as it has every bit an S-line has (all oem) :hubbahubba:.

Don't forget S-Line's came with and without exterior styling. Just because it doesn't have the s-line exterior pack, doesn't mean it's not an S-Line.

Hey call it what you want, but lets be factual not fictional, lol, your car was sold as a sport from factory, the front is a sport, its a sport accept it, lol, its like me keeping an S3 badge on my grill cause its got S3 exterior, just wouldnt happen, even waiting to remove the S3 alum sills as I dont want S3 logos printed on them, cant get those sills for Sline/A3, so have to buy A3 sills & remove the alum trims & stick them on my S3 sills.

with all the work you have created your own model - i'd call yours the N3..

Agent K, it had to be you, lol

Got that new headlight stalk & steering ecu today with the self returning main beam part, lets see if it works out of zee box.

Also sat in parts on there pc & found something I'd been meaning to test for ages, radio clock, goes on the cluster somewhere, but not sure it will work in UK, we'll see only £30.

Urmmm N3, has a ring to it, lol.

radio clock? Havent you got both already LOL - pic?

I remember you could buy a outside temp display that slotted into the 8L cluster if it didnt have the DIS but I cant think of what your talking about.

best of luck on new light switch.

Its basically a module that updates the clock & maybe date remotely, I like cause I often mess about with things & have to reset clock etc, lol, so stick one of these in & with luck will pick up the signal to adjust clock auto, havnt bought as wanna see if there is a remote signal in UK as I know germany has one.

Arf, alright I'll call it an S-Line light. It DOES have an S-line bumper though. The front sport bumper was used on both sports & S-line.

Audi did make lots of S-lines with the sport bumper though (see below), they just had the newer one from 06 onwards..

eg..

It's an S-Line now & I'm sticking by it... :sob:

Lol...They made the s-line with the sport bumper for about 6months - a year MAX between 05-55 reg. My cousin had a lovely red 55plate A3 s-line which had the sport bumper in the end he changed it to the proper s-line bumper. But if it makes you happy its an s-line:thumbsup::nyah:

Damn you all. I'm going to buy a newer shape S-Line bumpers now to shut you all up...

Then it shall be known as S-Line fat!

YAYY :) lmao
Dont forget the back bumper and spoiler or already got it?:p
Lol your sig just made me laugh ha!:icon_thumright:

As its got the spoiler it's S-Line zero maybe, not quite light, not full fat but nearly there.

lmfao thats funny, leave as you want mate, lol, bit of humour for early evening huh lads.

& its Lite, not Light :undwech:

Is that spoiler the rounded of edges one as they changed it at some point from a squared of edge to a rounder edge on far left/right side edges, I need to remove mine for respray as it fecked up but thought urm do I swap as I prefer the rounded edge ones tbh, more sleek & refined look, call it pedantic but hey has to be as I like huh.
