Howdy,

Anybody know if I can swap the current washer heads on my 58' S3 (3 separate jets) to the 'Fan' type?

Thanks in Advance

Kev

Not sure about the Fan type jets, but if you only hace 3 jets, one is not working. - there should be 4 jets, 2 from each of 2 units.

On mine it's 3 per washer jet - so 6 separate jets.

I shall have to check. I'm sure mine is only 4 streams of water onto the screen.

Oh the jet lottery....

Depends what model and when it was made! Mine (Dec 06 build) only had 2 jets...didn't think anything of it until i had a courtesy car with 3 jets,so i've now swapped 'em!

Mine was 3 too. Had the same argument with someone on here a while back.

You can change the heads for fan type yeah, I have and they're great. Wish I'd known about it sooner.

whats the difference?

Two jets:

\aaaa /
a\ aa/
aa\ /

Three jets:

\ aa|aa /
a\ a|aa/
aa\ | /

Fan jets:

\\\\|||///
a\\\||///
aa\\|///
aaa\|/

This took longer than it looks....too much time on my hands today :)

Seem to recall another recent post on this subject, using the washer heads from one of the larger VW cars? Passat maybe. Seemed to be a straight swap to the new part.

You got the part numbers for your fan washers Staz?

How much are the fan jets? Are they easy to fit? My GT Sport 170 had fan jets, the A3 doesn't.

To be honest even this doesn't do it justice.

They're from a Passat. I bought mine from JohnS3 via this thread:

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=72674

Part number: 5MO 955 986 9B9

£26 each though!

EDIT: 5 minute job fitting them by the way.

£52 for the water to come out like a fan, am i missing something here, madness! :uhm: I think i'll just stick to the standard ones and press them twice if required!

I've fitted the fan jets to mine going on from the A4 thread, I'd say alot better, worth it & dont think they're £52, I'll check but sure were £30 max.

I checked when I went out lunctime and it does have 3 streams from each jet. My previous A3 on had 2. Shows how much I use my screen washers.

Changing them to the Fan type sounds like a good idea though.

Take heed of warning that they arent 100% same fitment into the trim, wiring is same, they're loose & do require something to hold them in place, I actually used some sealant tbh as cardboard would eventaully just fall out with weather.

I didn't use anything fitting mine, they clipped back in.

£26 seems a lot for sure. I didn't pay that of course and I wouldn't have done!

Perhaps we need a contact who could do a group buy of Passat washer jets !

Are they loose though or tight as a ducks, cause I fitted mine & they certainly wernt tight mofo's as before unless they changed the window trim from 07/08 cars now.

They're tight enough for me!

Now where have you said that before huh Leon, lol.

Do me favour though mate when got chance check if they are actually loose at all cause even though they hold in place they were loose on my car.

Ok will do, but I'm pretty confident as I have been using them recently and would notice if they'd move.

I'll let you into a secret, I have stuck sealant on one & other is just pushed on so as yours, notice its slightly of direction, just curious if yours are stood fast.

Thats good then, I'm replacing my Audi 18" Rich Tea Biscuits with replacement 19" Audi BBS Rims or Big Bag of Sh1t as Nigel calls them

chocolate salty balls, lol

lmfao classic, its almost as good as that yorkshire man of the year on the tube, lol.

remember, its only authentic if its sponsered by the Black Sheep Brewery.

would these work on a 56reg a3? didnt know they were heated...?

Yeah should work on any 8P tbh & if not heated dont need to worry as spray part is pressure based anyway.

They are actually £13-£14 approx each not £26 each just to clarify with you all & I'd be happy to get a load for everyone, just note you would have postage charges aswell & packaging at cost.
