Indicator Lights stopped flashing

I have an A3 2000 1.8 sport model and having a problem with my indicators.

Whenever I go to indicate left or right both the indicator light on the dashboard and on the outside are lit but dont flash.

I've tried turning on the hazard lights and these still work fine.

Can anyone help?

Could be the relay, think if you buy a new hazard light switch it fixes the problem, happened on a friends TT.

I had to change the relay on my A3 (1999 1.8T) as the indicators were flashing, then not, then all over the place.

It's an all-in-one unit along with the hazard warning switch - not too difficult to replace, and from memory about 30-35 quid from an Audi dealer

I reckon that will do the trick!

Don't think that's the right part mate at least I know it's not the right part for an s3 and I presume it's the same part you will need, they cost about £35, quite an easy fix just a bit of a pig to get it out!

No it's not the right part - the part for the A3 has the hazard button as part of it, so you'll see the red triangle on one side of the relay.

Best bet is to go to Audi and get them to look up your car on their system - there are at least 2 variants of the relay so at least you know you'll get the right one with them! (That's what I did anyway).

Thats the wrong relay, you need the whole unit, which integrates the hazard switch as well, it cost me £35.91 a couple of weeks ago and its a dealer part only, fitted it myself, its a bit difficult to get to grips with it, but it can be done, just be careful if you are taking the stereo surround out, not to scratch anything.

the indicator started working again this morning, which makes me think it's fixable? do you think it is? as it's likely to probably stop again

I think its an intermittent fault, so chances are it will start playing up again. But give it a couple of days & see what happens before going to Audi for a new part.

I'm sure it will come back mate as mine did this, your probably best just buying a new part and fitting it, as it's not particulaly safe having no indicators both for you and other drivers/cyclists, as said before only £35 easy fix,

They will go again, mine went and then i finished early to get the part and fit it and all the way to Audi it worked, until i pulled into the car park, now hows that for timing!!!

I was even going to contemplate leaving it, but good job i didnt, i do alot of motorway driving so was imperative that i have a car in full working order at all times.

For the sake of £35 and 30mins work, just get it done, sods law is it wil go when you need them and could even land you in trouble.

Hi please can someone help. I have a audi a3 saloon 1.8tfsi petrol stronic 2014. Lately it gave a right turn signal bulb sign. I have noticed that sometimes the light does not work when indicating right. And sometimes whilst the warning light is on and then you indicate ot works. When I fold both mirrors in automatically and switch on the hazards both indicator lights work. I have even tried a new indicator light for the right indicator and still foes the same. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks riz

This is the 8L (1996-2003) A3 section dude... I would suggest posting in the 8V section for your car
