ap coilovers or weitec shocks+springs?

That's what I was thinking - maybe the whole kit has been "matched".

Out of interest Tom, did you swap your front ARB yourself - what size was the original?

I didnt change it myself, I had a very expensive day when I had all the suspension mods done and the cambelt and water pump changed :whistle2:

I still have the original one, I'll measure it when Im next in the garage.

im undecided too.. remap or kw suspension and arbs, is it alot different, in which way does it feel better?

also tom do u know where they mounted your rear arb?seeing as though our cars dont have 1 as standard

They come with new bushes when you buy them.....but I also got the front wishbone and rear axle bushes done as they were getting on a bit and were clunking a bit.

I'll get a snap of the install after I've had my tea.

As for remap or suspension.....suspension all the way first. Get it handling sweet and then go for the extra ponies.

yer i suspose, looks like itll cost me a grand for the whole KW kit. arbs shocks and springs and rear adjustable tie arms. plus fitment.

Might also want to consider your brakes before a remap. I'm not suggesting dinner-plate upgrade, maybe new pads and/or discs, but if your brakes are tired and you get a remap......
...... well, it's just nice being able to stop when you need to!!!

The quattros are quite heavy cars that are naturally set-up to understeer - so I think getting a sorted suspension set-up will make it feel like night & day. What's the point of having extra power, if you can't even put it down - and don't forget bushes from your list!!

yeah its not a cheap thing to do and it doesnt give you any power.....however you will have a dialed in car that handles as well as it ever will. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Yep, bushes are well worth doing!.

I've not done a big brake upgrade yet but I will when I go for a bigger turbo in the future ;)

I just lobbed some x drilled discs and green stuff pads on mine, loads more bite and hardly any brake dust....BERRRRILLIANT!.

Here's how the rear ARB is fitted, it bolts to the where the shocks are bolted at the bottom ....

And there we have it.

ill get the brakes upgrade when i gets my k04 turbo or hybrid later on in life :) ill get pads soom though.

ill have to sit down and have a long hard think about it !. my car does feel really heavy when taking corners fast though, oh plus wheel alignment, over a k. bushes come with it i think.

I think mine was about 900 for all parts, bushes, alignment and fitting.

Stung me a bit but Id done a load of overtime to budget for it....shame the footy seasons finished now...no angry mobs to control for a nice bit of double time!!.

nice 1 tom,now i know where i have to mount the rear arb,cheers mate:icon_thumright:

yer i justworked out £990, cant get a whole kw setup though, they dont do arbs for the tqs ! then probs 200 to fit it.

Does anyone know what the original ARBs are on an 03 A3TQS - size wise?

This kit (I think? ) looks like it will increase (proportionally) the rear more than the front - which is what we're all after!!

Thanks Damian - you've really given me something to think about now!!! :uhm:

cat amongst pigeons wasn't it!!

Cheers.

So Damian, do you know of anyone running a full Weitec set-up - Coilovers and ARBs? If so, have you had any feedback?

The Weitec ARBs are just brand new out so we don't have many reviews yet but the feedback so far is nothing but good. The Weitec coilovers always have, and most likely always will, get great reviews.

i ordered my kw 40mm spring/shock kit earlier from europerformance and it's on it's way to me straight from germany, should have it next week so i will be fitting next saturday! whooooooo

Good choice mate, you'll be well happy with it.

When mine got fitted it takes a day or so to properly settle so if it doesnt look that low when you first fit it.....dont worry...it'll drop down once a few miles have been put on it :)

yea i know mate my corsa i had took over a week to bed in nicely, can't wait for next weekend!will be ordering the kw arb's monday too so hopefully will be fully setup by next saturday evening :)

Hope you don't think I'm being rude - but what sort of deal did you get: price, delivery time & cost etc?

kit was £366 delivered from suppliers to my address, upto 7days not working days for delivery so expecting them no later than next thursday.i normally pick up from europerformance as it's near me but worked out easier just to get them shipped straight to me this time, rather than them order them in and then me picking them up.think delivery was £10,hope this helps you:thumbsup:

obviously i'll be fitting them so won't cost me a penny there.only other extra cost i will have is for the bushes, locktite, new suspension strut bolts and the cost to get it alligned/tracked after fitting.

Yeah its well worth going for a 4 wheel alignment straight after you fit it, get it all pointing in the right direction :)

 cheers, just nice to know what sort of deals are out there - I take it that was springs & shocks only, not ARBs!!

Great useful thread this. ROLTYA3TURBO, really looking forward to seeing your car once you got it all set-up. I will be doing suspension on my standard S3 soon. Do any of you guy have the MK4 R32 anti roll bars set-up ?

yea mate that was for shocks+springs.i wish it was for the arb's too!lol.
It may seem a lot of money for something you think won't do a lot but, once fitted you will see the benefit's of having the bigger/stronger arb's espeacially the rear as the a3 don't have them as standard!
Money well spent me thinks...:)

I don't think £366 is overly expensive for springs & shocks.

If it HAD included the ARBs as well then it would have been a real bargain!!!

my kw springs/shocks came this morning :yahoo:
but my spring clamps are in my aunts garage so i won't have chance to fit them until the weekend, but atleast there here finally! :)
