Managed to crack my screen in the process of putting back the 3rd mirror after calmed down from feeling like a stoopid muppet, i need my windscreen replaced, wondering are the autoglass fitters on the road in the van better skilled to fit a new screen than the ones in the depot?

need to get mine done soon

any ideas

I have found the van based loads better so far, but thats mainly as they do it every day, day in day out etc

Had a new screen fitted last week by a mobile Autoglass fitter.

My previous window had a blue strip across the top. They arrived with a window with no strip, so I told the guy I wanted one with the same blue strip. He got on the phone and said they only had a green strip on the top for a B5, so that's what I got. Defo not the same colour or shape as the 'original' (although fitter noted it wasn't the original screen). Aside from that annoyance, no problems with the fitting.

PITA trying to get my Richbrook tax disc holder back on the window though. Grrrr!!!

Yup. I got the same one from Autoglass 2 1/2 yrs ago... Good enough job. The original one was scored (179K) and the seals had gone, no problems with the current one and thats now 70k down the road, is starting to score a bit from the wipers though.

Had mine done by lad in a van and it was a well done job, even got to see how he done it and he was very careful not to cause any kind of damage to the dashboard. On the issue with depot my mother didnt have the same luck as me, it was badly fitted and had a leak on passenger side as she found a good puddle in footwell.
Blue did you use all the pads to stick it on when u first got it? I only used 3 of the 6 and still wont budge with just the 3.

looks like the man in a van wins then

I think his wiper blades have done 244k aswell mate :undwech:

ha. Just the 'swirl' marks on the glass, unavoidable due the fact the when it's not raining here it's pouring! Change em every 10k or so....
