S3 vs. Corsa VXR, M3(all models) & R6 :)

Glen, im sure you have a BT S3 right? Mine use to leave my mates E46 M3 all day long! without any issues!

So does my R32 :)

Yes, mine has had the backdraft treatment. I was referring to before I had that work done. (when it was remapped).

it does leave behind E46 m3's now with my bt.

Cheers,
Glen

My push-bike will kill all off your automobiles!

I can ride a motorbike like Rossi but just a little slower as ive only got 33BHP :arco:

s3 vs clio 182??

What do you think would be faster in a straight line and then in the corners.

Those 182's feel ****** quick and seem to handle amazingly !

I imagine a 182 would be more fun to drive than an s3 ?? What do you guys who own s3's think ??

depends on the spec of the s3's suspension setup a standard s3 with remap would proberly be left behind but an s3 mapped with sorted handling should probably see it off, just my guess ive never done it

i just got rid of my corsa vxr, they are quick.
my mate has a artic edition this thread has really made me want to have a little test now, just im a bit nervous at the mo due to the :busted_cop:, gazzaone no's all about it pmsl

yup been against several 182's, round here they all sem to want to have a go on the local bypass's...... non mapped S3 should beat them, mapped i can confirm is in a different league on the straights..... on bends the clio is a notoriously great car so as said, unless you've spent quite a bit on a decent set up on the S3 or if its wet..... then forget it unless you know they cant drive

I have owned a 182 and obviously now an S3. I have taken both to the Ring (see sig pics) and the 182 is so much better at handling as standard. S3 understeers like hell compared to the 182.

I can also confirm that my S3 (just driver) whipped a 182 (Driver and passenger) in a straight line before it was mapped, this was 10-70mph.

I do miss my 182 but for me it was a little too tinny and boy racerish compared to the S3..

Limited sliff diff in the corsa, and its a totally different beast!

haha i started writing that then realised it was a 197...... which are supposed to be slower ;)

I was very dissapointed with the straight line performence of the 182, I thought at the time it was alot of power for a small car.

People tend to rave about its handling though.

When I drove a 182 I was 50/50 with that car. Something about it that doesnt do it for me. Engine is good once over 4500 rpm, before that not very much go and the handling was good but very twitchy on the back road I drove it on. Very short wheelbase made the car feel uncomfortable on bumpy back road and didnt feel comfortable leaning on it, or maybe was on rubbish tires. Oh and the Transit van driving position is rubbish.

I would have thought a standard S3 would have a good lead in a straight line race.

yeah straight line it would...... corners are where the clio shines as standard

nobody mentioned getin beat by one yet? (apart from my tangle with a 197 haha)

Well yesterday I did find out how slow the type r's are in a straight line. We both overtook a lorry at the same time. I could hear its ham and cheeeese vtec but wasnt moving much. Ended up carrying on and overtaking it when he pulled in.

thats good minty cos from zero they wouldnt be far off a mapped S3..... another example of the mid range poke i reckon - niiiiiiice

Yeah the 182 does feel a bit twitchy but once used to it is great you just need to have faith in its handling. They come as standard with Michelin Pilots which were made for this car originally.

I dont think you would have much of a problem even from zero. They suffer the usual front wheel scrabble.

ah fair enough fella, never done it just gone off the 1/4 mile times those things tend to fetch

My only experience of being behind the wheel of a Clio Sport is driving my sister's 172 and trying to race my mate in his Ferrari 360M, I kid you not!, and I lost!! lol... it was fun trying though. :racer:

I'd love to have a go in a 182, my old J plate 16valver used to handle like it was on rails, brilliant fun but lacking enough power...

If you are refering to a Mk2 golf 16V, forget it, the Clio will show you a clean pair of heels in a straight line and on the twistys, if both cars was out the box. :racer:

Yeah I meant Clio 1.8 16v...

The 182 would be much quicker in a straight line, my 1.8 only had 137bhp approx...

My mate had a Mk 2 GTI 16v at the same time, in a straight line they were level all the way, nothing in it...cone the bends though and my Clio was better, the golf always seemed very wollowy on the bends, the wing mirrors would pratically rub the road on the bends...lol
