Are there any engine modifications which i can do to my 2.0L TDI to make it perform better? IE more responsive etc..

I'm wanting to prepare it for a remap, I'm thinking about putting a decat pipe on, maybe get rid of the EGR valve? Can this be done on the 2.0L PD's, i know it could on the 1.9 TDI 130's.

Would i see any difference in doing this mods? Are there any more which can be done?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

filter and exhausts with new downpipe, the downpipe is quite pricey i think tho but gives great gains. the remap will change the car a lot all other tuning you do will only be little such as replacing the DV for a forge DV putting a new, larger intercooler, fitting samco pipes

A diesel motor has a wastegate, not a dump valve?

What would new hoses do?

I won't be going down the intercooler route, that would cost a lot of brass, don't really fancy changing the exhaust, that's why i mentioned decat, i assume the turbo would spool up quicker, maybe rev more freely? Would i get any warning signs on the dash?

Thanks

Just remap and change the filter to a panel filter - if you can afford it, get a cat back miltek and if you really want to, get the larger down pipe for it as well

Is your car a 170 or 140?

It's a 140, noobish question but, what does a down pipe do and how much are they roughly? I don't want to fork out for a new exhaust, the one i have is fine lol, if i removed the car what overall effect would this have on the car?

Thanks

It comes off the turbo and down to the cat then onto the back box - just basically your full exhaust system!

The new down pipe is larger!

If you removed the cat? you will sound like a broken tractor!

Ah, i see.. The cat will be staying in place then!

Even though the down pipe is larger, what would this do though?

Pull the cat off mate, trust me it sounds good. More like a jet engine with the amount of turbo noise. It's no louder in the car at all.

Mine still has the cat but not for long. Got a full miltek going on with bigger downpipe and a panel filter.

i was meaning diverter valve not dump valve!

the samco pipes reduce heat transfer from engine bay into hoses and they are much stronger and don't buckle or split.

the bigger downpipe along with exhaust and filter means the air is a lot more free flowing, comes in quicker and goes out quicker, not so much back pressure on turbo so it spools up nicely and doesn't slow down so quickly reduce turbo lag!

if you do this before getting the remap, then the performance gains from the remap will be much higher as you can get that bit more boost!

im not too sure about the cat, cat's nowadays are being built really well now and not very restrictive so gains may only be minimal, but better off asking someone who has removed their cat and see what they say!

There is loads of things that can be done to the PD140 BKD engine but it all costs money. Just spend £300-£400 on a good remap first and see if your happy. All this talk of changing the down pipe is total ****** and a waste of money for you.
