S4 Front Grille

Great transformation there James.

Nice look now.

I have a dolphin grey V6 Quattro too. Whats the tuning module like on your V6 is it noticable in performance.
Did the lower grille today - it was a fiddly b*stard so I'm not posting any close up's :noway:

Looks good though, won't be long till I spray them :)

Yes it's noticeable - I fitted it straight away to my replacement engine so it's hard to give a back to back comparison. But it definitely pulls better across the whole rev range, and it has improved (but not eliminated) the torque hole under 1800rpm these engines seem to suffer from. It also gives a couple more mpg too, although it's early days to say too much here.

They cost £400 new, I got it second hand for a quarter of that. If I was to spend that much I would go for a custom remap however.

Finally got round to spraying the grilles today, they do look a bit better than the tape - a nice satin black finish, I am pleased with how they have come:

They look spot on!!

Just wish I'd done this now instead of spending a small fortune on oem black ones:banghead:

Did you not fancy black rings?

Nice 'n' Neat work there James, Looks so much better, as I said mate, your avant is shaping up well,Love the colour.Keep up the good Work!....all you need to do now is "joey Mod" them lights:eyebrows:

Your making me wanna buy a Avant for the Mrs :)...so I can get my hands on it.

Can I ask though....Do it actually get dirty!!;)

I have thought about it, and haven't 100% ruled it out, but I think I like the contrast and the definition the chrome offers. The only colour car I have seen with black rings which I thought looked genuinely good was black.

Cheers mate :hi:

Lol yes it does get dirty! Lately the weather has been so dry the car just gets dusty more than anything else, and a quick wipe down with Megs Last Touch leaves it looking good again  (And I do tend to clean it before any pics go up too :photo:)

I do fancy the joey mod, but seem to be struggling for time these days (and I'm scared .....)

You could always see if u can get a pair of front headlights from a scrappy and try it with those.

Wouldn't look good on mine (silver) though....

I actually sprayed up two of these top grilles while I was doing it.

So I have a top grille, with black sprayed chrome which I am going to ebay, but if anyone is interested PM me.

The grille itself is in very good condition, and has never been fitted since I re-assembled it. The four ring badge is very shiny but has a slight bit of impact damage on one end, but you would be hard pressed to notice it on the car. They just pop off anyway.

Ive sold a few like that on ebay aswell james, its amazing how many people out there ae lazy to even attempt this mod, both mine have fetched average £40 on fleebay!

£40, wow really! Thats a bonus, I love fiddling about with little projects like this too

Yep! I put 2 on last summer time and my first one went for £43 (£48 with P+P) and 2nd one went for £36 and pence.
Like I say, there is people out there who just cant be ***** to do little things like this even though it would cost them under a tenner - Im the same mate, love getting my teeth into something and seeing the finish product.:arco:

oh he has an idea iv spent all day trying to spot the difference hahahaha

ahah, He's suggesting to remove the bottom chrome strip from the upper grill, and the top chrome strip from the lower grill. I think it looks ok, gives it a feel of the newer audi's with the huge gaping grill in the front.

thats why i could just find the 2 then lol

I spotted the difference! I just wasn't sure what the idea behind it was ;)

Is not necessary to remove the chrome, is enough an black sticker.
