Hi

On my previous Sportback (2006) the windows would continue closing after leaving the lock button on the fob. On my current S3 I need to hold the button until the windows are closed. The dealer has tried the previous coding but none of that worked on my Sportback work on the S3. Apparently the S3 has more 'bytes' (14 compared to 12 in Sportback).

I unfortunately do not have Vag-Com or access to it (** need to get it **) but the dealer is willing to do whatever coding I want done.

Could someone please indicate which bytes need to be altered and what the values should be? Any idea if the auto closing function works on the 09 models?
Thank you
Sam

on my a3 2004 the window close when i hold down the lock button for a couple of seconds. What is the coding for them to shut when i click lock button once? i have vag-com.

This is what I used on the 06 Sportback and current 07 A3, but does not work for the 09 S3:
Enable Auto Window/Roof From Remote:
Click on '46- Central Conv.'
Click on 'Long Coding - 07'
WRITE DOWN your original long code before doing anything else at all.
Click on 'Long Coding Helper'
In the Long Coding Helper, set:
Byte 03 to '40'
Byte 04 to '3F'
Byte 05 to '3F'
(Just set the value given for the whole byte, you don't have to flip every bit individually within those bytes)
Click 'Transfer Coding'
Quit out of the Long Coding Helper
See that the new Long Code differs from the original one
Click 'Do it!'
Verify that the new Long Code is stored.
Click 'Done, go back'
Click 'Close controller, Go Back'

Test to verify that it works correctly: Open all windows and the sunroof (if present). Lock the car move, release the button and they'll continue closing (the 'Auto' feature). Pressing the remote again while they're closing stops them. To open, press the 'Unlock' button and hold it while the windows open. There is no 'Auto' function for opening, and there is no way to open the sunroof from the remote.

You could try posting in the VAG-COM section of the Forum and you may get some help from Sebastien at Ross-Tech.

Alternatively you could see if anyone local has a copy of VCDS (Vag-Coms new name) that can check the long coding. If it is a 8P0-959-433 14byte module it looks like it should be Byte 5 Bit 6 for Comfort Function Automatic Closing.

But beware that it is only by looking at that module using LCode in VCDS with out a good coding string as my module is a lot older than yours.

Use this info at your own risk.

Regards,

Paul

I don't think you need to use vagcom, I set mine via the DIS, just go into menu and follow the route to windows, I also set the unlock mode to one click all.

Thank you for the reply's.

I took a quick trip to the dealership and changed the following:
Byte 05 to '40'
Byte 06 to '3F'
Byte 07 to '3F'

I can confirm that it works on the 2009 S3. I now have auto closing windows.....

The next thing now is rain closing windows.... I suppose I really need to buy a Vag-Com.

Once again, thank you.

Let me get this right. This closes the windows when the car is locked without having to hold in the 'lock' button on keyfob?

I get it now :) You lock the car and hold down the button until the windows are moving up. Then when you release the button they will continue closing.

I thought it would be one push and they would close, but that is not possible I think.
