Has anyone had any trouble getting their windscreen changed on their A4 B7.

I need mine replaced and the windscreen people are having trouble sourcing a screen for it, they are syaing that the sensor on the screens they can get will do rain sensing or light sensing but not both !!!, they turned up with a screen today that does both but it is too big and they think it is a B8 screen.

My car had auto wipers and auto lights so the screen sensor must do both. They are going to speak to an Audi dealership to see what they need to do.

Cheers

Have a talk with Audi dealer. They might have the exact size specs they can order from factory.

Isnt the Light sensor in the rear view mirror?

Well the windscreen people have ordered one through Audi, and when it arrived he said it didn't look much different to the ones he could get.

Not sure on the sensor situation he says they are listed as either rain or light. The only ones listed as both are for the B8

Oh well, will find out tomorrow when they come to fit it !!!!

Thats very strange mate and concerns me as i also have auto lights/wipers and sensors.

As far as i am aware the light sensor is in the rear view mirror and can be turned off with the button on the front so doesnt appear to be on the windscreen, i think only the rain sensor is attached to the windscreen.

Let me know how you get on mate.

They didn't do it today as it was raining, try again Friday

I thought the button on the front of the mirror is to turn off the auto dimming function of the mirror.

The windscreen guy is saying the sensor is for the auto lights, i.e. when it goes dark the headlights come on and for the rain sensor

I am still not sure, I thought the sensor for the autolights was elsewhere on the car.

Hi Damian_25

Not sure if this is any help. The screen should be a Green / Grey type and is available from National Windscreens 0800 616 122 Part No 8572LF0B.
The sensor fitted to the screen is only for the auto wiper system.
The Auto Lights On sensor is in the interior mirror. As you correctly say the switch on the driver facing side is to switch the auto mirror dim facility off.

A new sensor mounting pad will be required.

PM me if you are still in trouble.

As i said the light sensor is in the rear view mirror and the rain sensor is on the windscreen:haha:

Just for clarification

The switch in the mirror turns on / off the Interior Mirror Auto Dim facility not the Auto Lights facility, that is controlled by the Master Light Switch.

Funnily enough it is National Windscreens who are doing it.

We shall see tomorrow, the guy did say it the windscreen from Audi looked exactly the same as the ones he can order.
