Had the day spare so done my mates Headlights for him, 3rd set done so far but this time I used the heat gun method which I found easier and quicker.

Ive had a few Pm's about this so just thought Id post a pic, could have done with a clean before I took the pics though really...

Very good....I have headlight protectors on mine though cos although I only do 30 miles a day in total on the motorway a set of £45 protectors is a whole lot less than a new OEM Xenon headlight assembly ......shame they get so grubby behind..sort of spoil the look - also cos I am a lazy sod :lazy: and cannot be bothered to take the protectors off every time I wash the motor !

looks great mate i want to do mine at some point, you just use black spray paint?? do you lose alot of the light from the headlights? hey soory to hear you lost ou on the door blades

They look very nice, and would compliment my de-chromed grille nicely!

Did you take any pictures during the process? With the lights split etc?

I would really like to do this with my headlights, Have you done a guide??

Marv - Yes I done these ones in matt black, 2 coats of plastic primer the few coats of matt.Havnt noticed anything diff on mine with regards to light output if im honest.Yeah gutted about the blades. The Guy reckons he had stacks of emails but I was too late.

James/Danny - I didnt guys, I always get carried away but my next lot Ill do my own little step by step Guide. Theres one here : http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/joey.html
When I did my own few weeks back I used the oven method but the lights were quite hot to handle and the soft seal/glue playtime wasnt lasting aslong as I needed even though they felt pretty hot (unless I baked them too long) but eventually did it. Oven methods have took me around 6 - 8 hrs from start to finish.
Today I though I had a go with the heat gun instead and had the first light open in under half hour.Start to finish was just over 5 hrs - Very fiddly and time consuming but well worth it. compliments the blacked out grill just nicely and gives the car a stealthy look (as you all I know is what I prefer)

Rocko did the oven method but out the 2 I prefer the heat gun. its the "breaking the seal" that does your head in.apart from that its **** easy. Think I have another 2 sets to do in couple weeks so ill do a J7-DIY-Route!!!:superman:

Good guide that thanks.

Still looks scary as f**k - if you were closer I would pay you to do mine lol

haha, it still scares me mate - Im scared of getting too ***** with the stopwatch:blink:!

Its a bitch heating the seal back and resealing the lights too but getting easier every set I do and worth it.

I was thinking of buying a couple of cheap sets from breakers etc then doing a Px thing on whoever wants them because few other guys on the other forum are on my case to do theres. Its just getting the time!!!

Nice mod i like
dont think i would have the gonads to do it thou .

Fancy doing a set of RS4 B7 headlights seeing as you know what your doing :eyebrows: might have something you might be intrested in if you do:sly:

Havnt done B7 headlamps as of yet but apparently the same if not, a little easier!! How soon you looking at having them done Doc??....and what do we have to tickle my fancy!:eyebrows:

As much as I what my lights modded, I'm going to draw a line at "tickling your fancy"!!

:sob: why not smooth!! lol :)

Doc - Ill see what I can do mate, Im sure I have a few spare days coming up next month. The Chav down my street stopped me on the way to work this morning and asked if I could do his...turning into a chore!

He Red tinted his rearlights so you can hardly see any light coming through, seen him spraying over them at the weekend, my mrs was ******* hereself - talk about No Prep.bet he's got a nice frosty backend with all the over spray,ha.

His is an Astra cdti but has more accessories on it than IKEA.
...anyway he's offered me a nice drink to do his headlamps and wait for it...he wants them colour coded...:lmfao:...in Red! aslong as he pays up I aint fussed!!

Found a set of mint A4 lights aswell so ill be doing these at the same time.

About ****** time J7USS!!!

Looks great.

I know Rocko , tell me about it mate!!!

..its ****** nerv wrecking though when you cracking them lights open hey.
The ones above have the Projector ring matt black too, mine on my ride havnt but now ive seen his fitted I want mine like them so trying to talk him into swapping with mine....nearly there!:eyebrows:

...not with an RS4 build you aint..

Hows it coming on anyway Doc?? cant wait to see this baby...:beerchug:

It's going very slow keep missing out on parts and the credit crunch is killing my overtime to buy stuff then on top of that the water pump goes on me so it's going to take way longer than I wanted it to. I was going to be dropping it off to the body shop this weekend to have it all done around my holiday but no luck now. I recon X-Mass new year now so will be getting the K04 in when I get back and maybe the RS4 B7 brakes on with one upgraded RS4 intercooler to replace one of the stock items pref the turbo side that way I can sell it to one of you lot or the US guys.
