Just interested to know if many people have done any kind of brake upgrade to the S3 or similar powered A3 ?

The standard set up on the S3 is okay but does suffer a bit from fade on track events, now considering either upgrading pads/hoses or going for a full AP set up, I've been put off the RS4 conversion due to high price and reliability.

Thoughts welcomed..

I would be interested to hear about this too. I find the brakes on my A3 seem to have a lot of initial bite, but when you're really leaning on them there's nothing there.

I'll be on soon 6 pot AMG's soon :racer: There was a ECS 6 pot cayenne set up for £900 BIN on ebay the other day mart, my cousin has the set up on the TT, they are superb! Look damn good to:

Hi Spec Mega Monster 6. The calipers are a lot thinner and lighter then the Brembo RS4 conversion which i bought then resold. Highly recommended.

I've been thinking of uprating the brakes on my car,and was recommended either EBC yellow or red pads,by AMD,who have given me a lot of help and good advice since I began uprating the car.

I've not used these before, and have only used Pagid, and Mintex previously, but neither appear to be options for the S3 8P currently.

Upgrading the hoses will certainly remove a bit of the squashy feeling you get with ordinary hoses, but it will still leave you with the problems of running harder pads should you go down that route.....until properly warm, many do not have good initial bite and require a good hard prod on the pedal to get them up to temperature.

This is the brake disk/caliper set up i'm using

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORSCHE-BRAKE-DISC-KEYRING-911-BOXSTER-CAYMAN-PARTS_W0QQitemZ160339878475QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item255500624b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A10|66%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

on my key ring! lol !!...the disk turns inside the caliper and everything!!

She wern't too happy about me spending £15 on it though:whip:

I have had the ECS 6 pot kit (which I found on ebay) in my garage for a
while now and still haven't got round to fitting it.

What price did you pay installed Mikey? What size discs you running?

They look great, approx price ?

Did you the leave the rears standard ?

I bought the brakes from Rimstyle back in January 2008. 360mm Mega Monster 6 kit was £1675. I had many options when buying the brakes one of which was to have crossed drilled disc's at an extra £49 and Ferodo DS2500 pads £90 which i was quoted £200 when i phoned for a price from other companies for the pads as they are so big. I bought some Neuspeed stainless steel front/rear brake pipes from AwesomeGTI to be fitted at the same time. I don`t know what fitting cost was as i had other work done at the same time but it`s a direct bolt on kit. The only reason i didn`t fit it myself was that i didn`t want to risk screwing up the brake bleeding so as to get air in the ABS system plus other mods where getting fitted at the same time so just left it for them to do. Rears haven`t been upgraded yet as it will make sod all difference to braking really but just want bigger disc's on the rear to try and equal the front/rear look as i only have 256mm rear disc's. One of the main reasons i went for the Mega 6 set up was that these calipers take a massive brake pad compared to other calipers of the same size so give much better braking under hard driving.

345mm 3.2/s3/r32 setup love them.

They are indeed, larger piston though & pads are fair tbh, considering the standard 280/288mm stock then these are a worthy upgrade & as you say good price if found used.

Where as my Tarox 10 pot 365mm kit on my old S3 would stop on a dime, feck me did they brake or what, but discs were £500 each aswell so a very good skimmer helped my pocket when they became warped/ridged due to fun driving, lmao.

For 99% of the people on here the 345mm 3.2/s3/r32 brakes will be as good as they need and a bargin upgrade. I just happern to be "different" as my mum always used to say....:whistle2:

I have the Porsche Cyanne (Brembo) 6 pot set up with ML 55 slotted disks.

Stops on a dime with very good modulation for daily driving (feels very stock but the braking limits is MUCH higher) I do not see a need to upgrade the brakes further even with the current K04 set up.

The down side is that its a bit on the heavy side compared to Devonmikeyboy's set up. Also wheel fitments is always a problem as the calipers stick out quite far from the disk.

Upside is that its not extremely expensive and its bout 1500 euros for a set of NEW calipers and disks.

Definately go for 6 pot if you can afford it as this set up saved me many many times from a bump. Also, with this setup there is no need for carriers, its a direct no hassle replacement.

Thanks all for the replies certainly gives me something to think about, will keep you posted when I've managed to secure the funds (lied to the wife !).
