Disable rain sensing wipers

Check your DIS menu options as I know the 8P A3 updated for user configurable options from 07 onwards for these things so no coding needed & given yours is even newer then I would hazard a guess can be done by you in the menu's, also isnt the auto turned on & off by the 1st wiper stalk position upwards as per the A3?

Hi NHN
the only thing in my dis is the facility to set the wipers in park mode.Position one on the stalk is for the delay wipe which is governed by the auto bollo*cks!Second position is for constant slow.Would putting some insulating tape over the sensor behind the rear view mirror do it??!!

I'll look into this mate as it might need some advanced comfort settings turned on in the cluster, but my 1st position on the wiper stalk turns my auto wipers actually on mate so if I kept on bottom they wouldnt work at all even if it rained.

The sensor is on the glass & its based on vibration of the rain on the glass so no that wont help fella, but if it really annoys you then you can remove the mirror & disconnect the sensor, but might get a DIS warning about this but it will definitely turn of the auto wipers, I'll see if there's anything on this that isnt a vagcom job so you can do yourself.

My wipers when on auto respond to the frequency of droplets on the sensor so more rain more wiper movement, isnt down to the delay set on the stalk, as yours should do mate, given ite new just pop into audi for now as they will do for free, blag it saying the auto wipers wernt turned of as I requested when I picked up the car, lol.

Unless you buy vagcom mate, hint hint, compliment your new car nicely.

Thanks for that.Ive double checked my manual and I was correct in my first reply that position one is the intermittent wipe which turns the auto on, but can be adjusted to increase/decrease the wiper activation.(but the auto seems to overide this !)Position two is slow wipe (no auto interferance) and three is fast wipe.I look forward to your reply!!!Thanks again

John, may I ask why dont you just leave it in the off position & then when you want to use them just put on the 2nd position & upwards, I am trying to see why this is an issue tbh.

Also the way your wiper system works is identical to the 8P with auto system, I will check later if I can turn of via DIS or vagcom.

Hi NHN
I just wanted a manual delay wipe, 2nd position can be too regular.I guess im just set in my ways!!Thanks for your time.

No worries but I'll still check it for you.

LOL...still driving me mad.First it goes mad and then it doesnt wipe for a while. Its got a mind of its own.

NHN....any news??
thanks

Can only sympathise then. I have an 2007 Aud A6 and the rain sensor is terrible.
I wish I could deactivate and use the first setting to manually control an intermittent wipe. At the moment it appears to work entirley randomly so I might as well just manually hit the switch when I want it.

A3 2006 with auto light/wiper pack
On the wiper arm there is a switch to set the wiper intervals or the sensitivity
of the light sensor/rain sensor

up is more down is less
this is what I use

I have Auto wipers on my Current A3 and I always have the setting at maximum sensitivity and they seem to be OK. Sometimes I think about moving the lever to do a flick wipe and just as I think it, the wipers do an auto wipe.

Great idea tbh, loved them on my S4 & love them on the A3, wouldnt be without along with many other tech bits.

I agree mine have been great so far.

Always have mine flicked up to postiion one (on) and leave them like that at full sensitivity.

There great in heavy rain.

Although sometimes i have had to intervene because they were still asleep or still going mental when it had stopped raining.

Do you find that if you leave the wipe switch in AUTO (position '1'), and switch the ignition off, when the ignition is switched back on, the auto sensing isn't operational, and you have to switch if off (position '0') and then back on again?
