Forge Turbo Hose!

im planning to when i do my hybrid but doubt it will do anything bit of a pointless upgrade imo

na i cant see the benefit unless your running high boost....even then this pipe is pretty sturdy as standard anyway

Yours maybe tim but had ago at mine the other day and wasnt sturdy at all, verey squidgy lol

On another note, when removing the strut brace you have to remove the top mount bolts (is that correct) anyway is that safe todo or will it affect the suspension?

Thouht it would be quite alot sturdier like the silicone tips etc...

i dont think the TIPS are that sturdy mate....was very suprised hen i fitted Jimmehs forge item...... i just think theres less risk of them cracking/splitting with them being silicone

strut brace bolts onto studs mounted into the top strut turret you wont undo any bolts related to your suspesion at all just from bodywork

Ok that could be it then lol, its the two big bolts, one either side that holds the strut on along with the 3nuts, so if i undo the big nuts it wont do any damage:uhm:

no need to undo the 'big nut' just the three 13mm nuts each side,

You sure! Im sure when i went to remove it last time i took the 13mm nuts off but then all that was left was the large nuts because thats what stopped me!

I had to trim mine as it was too long and collapsed on itself when fitted originally.

What the turbo hose! What do you mean by it collapsed?

Because it was too long it squashed itself. Trimming it stopped this. Just have to be carefull, if a garage fitted it they might not care and just slap it on.

definantly sure had mine off twice this week

Ooh i get you. No worries with that i'd be fitting it myself.

Did you notice any difference with it fitted?

nope as i havent got one yet lol

Cheers minty.
So is it worth buying or not?

Well guys in need of some advice from those who have got these fitted (if anyone part from minty has).
Finaly got round to fitting my tonight and TBH it's sh**e, now i dont no if it's just me or wht but my OEM item lloks alot bigger than the forge one, also ones the forge item was fitted the charge pipe wouldnt sit right in its seating along with this the forge turbo pipe was quite narrow in the middle once fitted, it looked more restrictive than the OEM item. Sooo Off it came, was it just me or what!

Looks pretty pointless to me. Mines always going to be the same diameter if its stock or Forge anyway. Think I'll leave mine alone unless it splits.

TBH i think it'd fit the KO3 better than mine.

sorry you had an issue we have sold hundreds of these and this is the first isssue I have heard of , the is a worth while mod as the OEM hose is weak , the heat makes the hose brittle and it often fails , this hose is regularly replaced at main dealer service,

to be honest ive never heared of this part failing and audi do like to replace things that dont need doing, seems a pointless mod really unless your running higher boost but still the std item is about 4ply thick if im correct, i was looking at replacing mine when going hybrid not sure now though

its the same if not thicker than the forge item. Tbh kev dont bother, the oem items solid and its 5ply.

Sounds to me like you need to trim it. If its narrow in the middle and the charge pipe doesnt sit right then would assume its too long.

Well trimmed it down to fit and tbh i still prefer the oem item bt to late to send it back now, we'll see how it goes.

Here's some pics to compare the forge and oem item:
