I will need some new front disks and pads soon on my 2.0tdi, Im pretty sure they are the 288mm ones as fitted to the b6 model. I want a remap at a later stage so im leaning toward an upgrade, so far as I can see I have 5 options:

1. Change the pads & disks with the same oem spec
2. Change the pads & disks to some upgraded stuff, like hawk pads and drilled/slotted disks etc.
3. Upgrade to 312mm disks
4. Upgrade to B7 2.0T calipers etc. (I think these are s4 calipers with a different carrier and disk)
5. Upgrade to B6/7 S4 calipers etc.

So what should I do? Has anyone done any of the above before? Are 2.0t calipers actually s4's? I think that's enough questions for now  any help or insight would be appreciated.

I'd be interested to know if the B7 ones are the S4 calipers, I know the discs are uprated to grooved and drilled (on the special edition), but thought the brakes weren't massive, but then I've never really seen S4 calipers up close...

hi the s4 b6/b7 brakes are 345mm single piston but this piston is very big and are very good brakes! i have upgrade mine to 365mm 8 piston d2 racing and in everyday driving you could not tell the difference but on the track you can hammer te brakes and they dont give up! my advice is to upgrade the pads and disks this will give you what you need, unless you track you car or its for the look

i have found out that 2.0t calipers are the same size piston but the caliper is shaped a bit differently to accomodate 16" wheels. I still haven't seen any on ebay though:( Ill just have to keep looking.

I've found S4 calipers, carriers, pads and disks but how much are they worth?

Here are the pics I have, Would they need new disks too?

I have bought these this morning I'll hopefully get them tomorrow and see what condition they are in at the weekend. They won't get installed until the end of the month at the earliest as I have my finals on next week and Im finishing off my thesis as I speak :keule: I'll keep you updated.

I got the brakes today and all I can say is WOW they are HUGE! I can't wait to get them on the car. I will get some pics up when I give them a clean.

Edit: I forgot to say that in the classifieds section of uk-mkivs.net there was someone selling a set of 2.0t or 3.0tdi ones, which are the same size calipers as S4 ones but shaped differently and I think they use a slightly smaller disk so they can be used under 17 inch wheels. They would be a good upgrade for someone with a tdi B7 or anyone with a B6.

Cheers for the info jwhat. They are on their way now :eyebrows: Any ideas what the best paint is to use? I'm going t give them a good tidy up, as I they will look better in black.

Have you got your's on yet?

I haven't had a chance to get them on yet, I'll probably go for black too, nice and understated :yum:. Glad you got them mate, they'll be a nice addition to your car.

Too true. I will get some pics up when they arrive. Be good to get your first impressions whan you've had a chance to get them on and gve them a good go.

:sign_pics: Razza1. Also did you measure the discs when you painted the calipers?

No didn't measure them, they're drilled discs though and are pretty big. I haven't got very far with them as a new girl addition 4 weeks ago has taken up all my time.

Also have an issue where the last tyre place has over tightened my locking wheels nuts, so much so I can't undo them, so have taken to masking the wheels off and painting the calipers in situ, not ideal but still gives a good result. Only got one coat on the right side calipers so far, can see this being a long mod....:gaehn:

Congratulations mate. Good luck with those sleepless nights then :)

I think the special edition discs are the same size as the standard 2.0T, but as you say - drilled! Very nice, I must say.

Will have to get mine cleaned up and painted and get some pictures up.

I haven't had a minute to even clean mine yet and im going to south America on the 10th hopefully i'll have something done with them by then!

Does anyone know if the DTM brakes will fit a B6 1.9TDIQ?

Does anyone know if the DTM brakes will fit a B6 1.9TDIQ?

Certainly will mate :icon_thumright:. They are the same as the ones I've just got, only drilled discs instead, which I'd happily swap with you for my standards :lmfao:

Kewl! Do they fit under 17"'s tho? Seriously tempted by these brakes.. :eyebrows:

Will it matter if I leave the rears as standard? Just worried about brake distrobution / balance or will the ESP work that out?

If I do buy these I will have 2 288mm x25 and pads (both ATE) with only 800miles on them for sale and some brand new (yes brand new...long story involving Eurocarparts ) rear discs and pads which I would sell on from a very reasonable price! Any offers?

Im pretty sure they will fit under 17's, its only the S4 brakes that need 18's. Go for it they will be a great upgrade for when you get you re-worked turbo plus they look

Turbo has already been done, and new map provided by Derv Doctor..pushing about 180bhp atm (slippy slippy clutch time.. :keule:)

Really do need to sort the brakes, is a pain as I have bought brand new kit but, the stopping power is just awful - as it is a very heavy car for it size...being Derv and a Quattro.

Hmmm, DTM brakes....next FSD's to compliment the RS4 RARB :jump:

Ah cool, I didn't realise you had it already, I'd say its some fun!

FSD's are coilovers right?! This modding thing is addictive! I have the brakes to go on and the RS4 rarb and a new steering wheel! Now I want some S4 wheels or 19" A6 wheels and of course some coilovers too!

Well, I've bought the brakes for £250...if there anything like what I have been led to believe it will give me some much needed stopping power.

I have also ordered the KW springs and shocks package from JPM Performance which should be here by the end of the week...can't wait toget it all fitted!! :D

Good work QuottroA4, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Get some pics up when you have it all fitted, and report back on how the new stoppers are.

I'd recommend getting the stone guards from the dealer too, they're around £12 a side I beleive. Let me know if you want part numbers.

That's two of us jwhat has helped out with brakes in the past week or so. Cheers jwhat :beerchug:

Yeah, cheers for the advice jwhat! :)

Dont think I will be painting them as it draws unwanted attention to the fact that you have modded your car, besides...would have to do the rears as well!

Just hope I havent made the wrong choice re the kw kit - https://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/kw...tro-19tdi-qauttro-30-quattro-1100-p-3176.html Anu opinions on this chaps ?

Sure isn't that what the forum is all about, helping out each other.

My calipers are covered in surface rust so I just want them nice and clean and im going for black for the understated look. And your right i'll have to do the rears too, but I need to change the rear disks and pads anyways so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.... Famous last words!

The kw kit looks like a good piece of kit, after I get some new wheels, im going to be on the look out for some suspension too.

Don't forget some pics lads when your putting on the brakes.

Chop chop ;)

Yeah I haven't been very quick with this TBH. They are still sitting in the box they arrived in. Maybe I'll leave them stoc silver, so I don't have to paint the pathetic rear calipers. Not so sure I want to draw attention to them, lol.

Well got the brakes yesterday..Christ on a bike the calipers are huuuuge! Went round me old mans to pick them up (as he takes all my deliverys while I am at work ;)) and went to pick up, 36.5kg!! Not that easy on the ode back

Now the carrier mounts look ALOT bigger, do they really fit on my B6? I hope so as I will be gutted if they dont. Doesanybody have the VAG part numbers for the stone guards ogo with the discs btw?

Cheers
Rich

Part number is 8E0 615 311 A (left) , 8E0 615 312 A (right) Note these part numbers are for 320mm dics. The 345mm S4 ones are the same part number with the A replaced by a C.

Fixing bolts are N 905 988 04 and you need eight.

does anyone know how much it cost all together for the S4 brakes up front and back??? and what size of wheels can these fit???

You need at least 18's for the B6/B7 S4 brakes to fit. The parts are really expensive from the dealer a scrappy would be you best bet, or look out for a set on ebay, the rear ones very rarely come up though. I've only ever seen one set for sale! The fronts cost me £275 and then postage was on top of that, and I also need the stone guards and some new pads. The last time I checked Traynors (the huge breakers in the north) didn't have any so I had to get them from england.

I have had my DTM drilled brakes fitted yesterday, they only JUST fitted under my 17's..still waiting for them to bed in again as they haven't been used for months.

One thing I will say is that they are HUGE!! Parcel that they came in weighed 36.5kg!!! Much to peeps disappointment I didnt paint or clean them up as I couldn't be bothered with the faff, besides I'd have to do the rears as well which would be a pain in the bum.

They do look niiiiiiice under the wheels tho, I will try and get sum piccies posted up when this crappy weather clears up :icon_thumright:

Hi, i don’t know if this is the right place to post or if it has been already covered, i would like to know if the brake calipers and discs from mk6 golf R would fit an audi a4 b7.
Thanks in advance.
