I remember a while back people talking about an MP3 box that you can get for an audi. Can anyone enlighten me on it?
Also is there an iPod adaptor for the OE Concert stereo.
Lastly i have the Concert Bose setup with integral Sub. Can i fit my Sub an Amp to this in replacement of the OE sub or does it need a new headunit etc?

Cheers all

Yes Drizz its the phatnoise Phatbox system, sadly in 2007 the Phatnoise has been discontinued; but as again they do come up on eBay now and again be prepared to pay around £80- £100 plus.

I have this system in my car and its awesome esp. like the search facility where you can search via artist/genre/album/playlist via letters/names spoken through your speakers, you get a docking system and normally a 20GB Hard drive. It also utilises your existing Audi concert/Symphony controls and plugs into the cdchanger lead.

Not sure if you do search via the iPod system.

Daniel,

A cheaper (from £60ish) and far more available alternative to the phatnoise (to put you on till you find one) is the USB -> Concert adaptor by Connects2 - I have one fitted in the RS4, and once you are used to it's limitations (no track info, having to save tracks properly to the usb to get them in order) it's a reasonable way of getting stacks of music on hand in the car. There's no search facility either, but I just print out a track listing to keep to hand!
You can even still use the CD changer with a little cheat...

Linky: connects2 usb -> concert

However, a Phatnoise WOULD be infinately better!

Ipod connection here: connects2 ipod -> concert

HTH.

You can link up a proper sub from the OE sub, you can pick up the left & right pre-outs from the sub amp along with the remote on feed. All you need to do is run a fused power cable from the battery for your amp. Easiest route is through the spare grommet on the ECU cover under the drivers side scuttle which drops straight down into the drivers footwell.

So theres a phono to the OE sub? Perfect! Im liking this car even more LOL

whats the cheat, out of interest?

With the Symphony if you quickly switch from CDC to radio to CDC it swaps between MP3 and CD changer as the source for CDC... I'm not sure if it would work pressing the 'mode' button quickly on a Concert h.u. though?

Unfortunately there isnt an iPhone adaptor available for the Concert so looks like ill have to buy another iPod for it!
