I dont actually think it is a light, but I have heard that if it does come on, then you need to jump out of your car on the spot, hop on one leg, pat your head and sing a song of your choice in the loudest voice you can possibly gain, personally I dont think thats true though :nyah:

Isn't it just then end stop (or beginning stop) for the needle? Does the needle sit on it with key out of ignition?

Or calibration screw? Will have a look at mine in a min!!

I believe it is the light sensor so if it goes dark the display darkens to remind the driver to put headlights on!

pmsl:wtf:really???:meeting::rock: love to see that:photo:

Looks like the same light sensor as on the 8P aswell

It could be a little man who lives in there & thats his window to the outside world, maybe audi have secretly put tiny tims in our cars to keep tabs on us all :undwech:

That's the Audi god seat ejection warning - if it is illuminated then it means that you have 5 seconds to jump out of the car :jester:

love the idea's

actually im quite glad i have found something to ask that hasn't been correctly answered in under 30 secs as they usually are.

maybe it doesn't have a purpose and its just there for people to ask the question - why !

I noticed it too and never knew what it was for hmmmm

I've just had a look in my owners book and its not listed!. My car has one but its not in the book....randomness or what?

Im not sure? I think the light means that you have to send all your S3/A3 goodie's to S3 HODGE :) :)

UPDATE:

With regards to my earlier comment.....I hear its TRUE!!!!

I see someone's been on the Stella this evening huh Nilz or acid, choose your preference, lol

Stella...HIC!!!

Anyway its bed for time now, so Goodnight all ;)

what's it called when you google something and you get no websites, this question is like on of those. No answer available.

May I also take the opportunity to say how much I really love the iPhone.

Regards.

Nahh!!! LOL

Now get some pics up of your car, i want to see it :)

Have you tried to put your hand over it to see if the cluster adjusts its brightness day/night time when lights are on, I still think its a sensor tbh as its dentical to the style as on others.

I'll have a look in elsa later.

There's a manual roller to adjust the dash lighting so I dont think its that!

I want to know what this does now too!

So does the 8P mate, the roller dial adjusts the illumination circuit on the car, but the light sensor on the cluster adjusts the brightness of the lcd's on the cluster for miles, clock & DIS boxes.

More useful info - I noticed this morning that in the 8P this sensor is on the opposite side of the speedo dial compared to 8L.

Ah this is true, there's also some coding in instruments 17 coding for needles but also a 2nd dimming characturistic

Another reason to have Genuine VAGCOM.
