What are AP coilovers like???

As it says really AMD are doing a good offer if you look at their section of this forum.

Anyone had them or got them?

Will coilovers be too harsh even on a soft setting?

i think there height adjustable but not damper so they will be stiff ive been told ....i think v-max are meant to be slightly better ride f it budget coilovers you want

I heard there quite stiff, Ask S3_KEV as his just put some on his S3. Told me that there a nice ride for £399.
Im after some aswell i think...

I'll leave it then, don't want a stiff ride!! They also do KW variant 3 fitted and 4 wheel alignment for £1000.

It costs £1100+ from DPM just for the parts, so the it looks like a good deal but £500 more then the AP ones.

Im thinking of the Spax RSX kit....My friend had a pair of these on his ST Mondeo and they are amazing with adjustable height and damper. They are around the £550 mark i think, look great and come with a good warranty. Also the Wietec coilovers are ok for around £520 i belive....

what ever set up you go for the ride will be stiffer then oem as thats how you gain the handling effects if it a comfy ride your after id steer clear of coilovers completly the ap coilovers are a very good ride imo and soft ride for coilovers but your best bet would a spring and damper set up like h+r springs and bilstein dampers tried and tested with lots of people on here

Yeah i know the separates are best bet but just wondered as it's a pretty good deal on fitting.

surely though the seperates would work out cheaper parts wise so by the time you add labour and 4wheel alignment your be at around the same cost give or take so you get the ride you want for around the same cost no point spending out on something you dont really want just because itscheap for what it is

It's about £770 for the bilstein and H&R from DPM plus about £300 fitting at AMD

Wheres the deal they do is is £500ish fitted for the AP's

So an extra £600 for the separates.

Yeah, £300 is taking the ****. Its 2hrs for a specialist (£50per hour) or 4hrs for a general mechanic (£37 per hour). Most place state £200ish fully fitted and aligned.

sorry, i added the 4 wheel alignment when it includes it.

It's £230 including alignment and fitting, but if you get the ap's or kw's it half price

I went to G werks a few weeks back and got fitted a set of KW V1 Coilovers.

The ride quality is alot better than when i had H&R Shocks and springs suprisingly. And im quite low.

G werks charged me 120 to fit my Coilovers...

Ive heard nothing but good things about the AP's though.

i was going on the kw's not the ap's on my priceing as i thought you had chose the kw's over ap's

We've fitted a few sets of AP but don't actually sell them and found them quite harsh on the road. For a little bit more you can get the Weitec Hicon GT which are a great piece of kit and not at all harsh.

Remember we also try and match any price you get and was that price from AMD for the V3's not plus VAT?

I presume these are different to the S3 one's, even though they say Quattro only, as the part no ends 46, Wheres on DPM site it ends 45 for the S3.

It was £1060 fitted and aligned all inclusive of vat. Which to be is an absolute bargain compared to prices elsewhere!
