If you have read the post i put on a few days ago about the bloke who cocked up the paint job on my wheels you will see that they are white and a few peeps have told me that it makes it look cheap what you think b4 i spend a load of cash again painting them white and then have some pimple faced weed telling me the look ****

can you post a bigger picture?

Garages amaze me, they seem a law unto themselves. I took our A4 to a garage round the corner just for an MOT. They said the front wheel bearing was shot and failed it. No way could I get it fixed at my normal VAG specialist within 24 hours for a free retest so I let them do it. They said it would be about £120. Anyway they managed to sheer something off whilst doing the work which then involved drilling something out, sorry to be so vague, but they charged me for all the labour it took them to put their incompetance/mistakes right, so ended up costing over £200. I'm sorry but if I drilled through a water pipe or similar while fitting a kitchen for a customer I would be in no position to charge them for all the extra labour it would take to fix the damage (nor would I even consider doing so), I'd just have to take it on the chin. How do garages get away with this?

Well it's one of those things, sometimes parts do sieze on cars and parts do break during dismantining. Suley its no different that you removing a cupboard that the customer wanted to re use and it falling apart whilst being removed, you wouldn't replace that would you.

Tazzy, post the links again mate so we can have bigger pics, as far as i can tell the overall impression of the wheels makes it look much better

No I'd repair it. No idea how my post ended up in here, I was replying to the post about shoddy mechanics!
BTW white wheels always look terrible IMO.

some proper white compomotives would look great IMO
can't see what they are though

Not too sure yet but may work with the red.
Hope you pull it off though.
Going for a rally look?

dark grey would be better. white wheels look good on something like an evo etc but not so sure on something like an a4.

im not diggin white wheels on anything but a rally car, i think they look ***** mate and dont recommend puttin them on, get them in anthracite or summin. are they A8 rims?

Had white Ford alloys on an S2 Turbo years ago, looked cheapish so got some standard as soon as i got the car. Only wheels that can pull it off are Comps etc that come in that finish.

I have to say, even though I'm in the large minority here, I think the white wheels look quite cool. It's different and unique.

Even though I'm guilty of anthracite wheels, I think anthracite and silver are a little boring. Though, maybe they're only so common because they look good!? lol. My opinion only, of course.

White on red doesnt actually look too bad. Not sure if the look suits the A4, you'd really need to see it with the tyres on and car on the ground etc to know for sure

I say give it a go.

I personally like them, go for it! at the end of the day, if you like 'em, slap them on!

are they 17's or 18's?

i was thinking about a white set for my yellow a4, this makes me want to do it more to be honest!

Personally, not a fan of white wheels... no matter what colour the car is.

at the end of the day its your car not anyone else's. do what you feel is rite mate

Agreed... but he did ask for people's comments on them. :friends:

They are 18" butty,,,,

Thanks for all the comments guys will defo take it all in

You know what, i'm hardly a paragon of taste and elegance, but....

I like them.

Kind of what a Ralliart Evo IVs dad would look like. A grown up rally car. A different, fresh look. There aren't many red Avants out there, why not do something different?

I say go with the white. Wonder how matching white badges would look?

i got white speedlines on my 205, but seeeing as its a track car i can get away with it also its black so even better.

but tbh it looks ok on a red motor. gun metal or similar might look better though:ninja:

Nope, white wheels cheapen the look of most cars, unless it's a Manta 400 or Nova Sport on white revolutions etc etc

It's different, so do it! This scene seems to follow very common trends and churns out a lot of the same car, I say go for it, make a statement, build the car the way you like it, for you! I reckon white wheels work well on a red car, good luck keeping em clean though!

That's the key thing really yeah, and I'm always a little puzzled when threads like this one start (on ALL car forums).

"Should I change my valvecaps?"..........I **** you not, I have seen this.

As for making a statement and 'going for it', being different from the herd doesn't always end in a tasteful result, as can be seen on some of the Ebay comedy cars.

That's true. I didn't have the guts to change my valvecaps, just got over the ribbing I got when I changed my Air Freshener.

Sometimes, though, when chasing a "fresh look", if done well you can end up with something so subtle it almost looks OEM. The eBay charlie-chaplin mobiles are usually cobbled together from a mish-mash of GRP "bodykits" in a "It looks cool on that Lancer Evo, should be just the ticket on my 1.2 Corsa".

Common sense should tell you whether a mod has mileage in it. I fear that my own car isn't quite off the hook just yet, looks a bit like an A4 with the wrong wheels.

But a red Avant on White, tasteful rims? Properly lowered and sitting right? Be brave my son. Lead the way.

And get some Pole Positions in there. In Red and White leather.

i quite like them tbh. could look pretty cool decked.

another option would be matte black? easy to do, but quite effective.
