Hi All

I recently took my Audi to London (from Bristol), the first major drive its been on in my ownership, apart from being around town. On the drive back i noticed the front end 'jumping' about when i put it into 5th entering the motorway. I put my foot down to blast out whatever it could be but it continued to do it. Its also developed a judder when pulling away in 1st gear. Ive now noticed on the drive to work that its completly flat when going over about 3500rpm, the car feels completely strangled, does anybody have any ideas on what this could be ?

Thanks in advance

manual transmission I assume?

if so, when you say "completely flat", do you mean the revs keep going up, but the speed doesn't? or just that the engine is very lacklustre?

and "jumping around" - do you mean the car jsut isn't pulling very cleanly (clogged injectors) or it's physically bouncing up and down?

Hi, thanks for your reply, yes the car is a manual. By flat i mean the revs virtually stop at around 4k rather than pulling continually. When i changed into 5th the engine seemed to be bouncing around on its mounts, almost feeling like a flat front tyre. I pulled over to check, switched the engine off and all tyres had 34psi in them. When i started her up again the engine was fine all the way home. Very strange!

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it went into limp mode when you floored it. common problem on Audi diesels i'm afraid, could be several things but you need to get it vagcomed to get the codes before you do anything else.

Post this in the diesel forum, you should get more response. First check is the MAF, but to get most response i'd put in year, mileage, service replacement items. I agree you need to get it VAGCOM'd, you should be able to find an Audisport member who'll do it for the cost of a few pints see VAGCOM forum
