I just got back from a long weekend at the Nurburgring. I'll upload my photos later when I get time but I have attached a photo of my car that I bought from a professional photographer.

This is the 6th time i've been to the ring (3rd time driving), but the first time I have tracked the S3. I now understand what everyone on here keeps saying about the standard suspension/brakes! They are fine on the road but complete crap on a track. I think a brake upgrade will be next on my list of mods.

what a great pic though mate. how did the s3 do on the track then? i've got some tarox g88's and ferrodo ds2500's and braided lines which were a huge improvement over stock and i never go on a track.

Is that a standard looking Focus behind you?

Good pic mate. Looks good fun!

The previous owner had put new discs and pads on when I bought the car but they are only the TT brakes so not much improvement! they do just fine on the road with normal driving but trying to brake from 130 before going into a bend isn't recommended! As for the handling, well that was pretty loose at speed too, I was understeering all over the place.

I went for a passenger lap in my mates E36 M3 which has AP 4 pots all round and fully adjustable suspension with Yoko semi slicks and it was like being on rails. Here's a pic of his car.

lol, someone i know went a while back and he saw a transit aswell. When im 21 ill be down to the Ring :)

Your car looks lovely in that shot mate, think I may have to do the outer part of my grill black after all, looks the ********...liking the standard avus alloys too...

Ah the carousel. Much fun.

I cancelled my trip for later this year but I might just book it closer to the time I was planning....around August I think.

Cheers mate. The grille surround being black is one of my favourite mods. The S3 badge really stands out in this pic too which looks nice. I was also toying with the idea of getting some new wheels but I really like the Avus so I'll either try and get some 18" S4 Avus or just keep the 17"s and get them refurbed in grey.

Yup, dechromed front grills look awesome!

I've been to the ring once with a mate of mine in his saxo vts, not the fastest car but awesome fun! I'd like to take my golf or S3 there this summer.

Yea i think you have to be 21. Shame really....O well my S3 will be stupidly tuned after 3 years time :) :)

That looks a lot of fun and a great shot of the car too. I hope to go next year and sample some ring action as part of a euro road trip I have planned.

You gonna share your lap times with us??

Cheers Maz

I used to time them when I had my Clio 182 but I dont any more because I end up taking risks to try and get a better time! It's all about enjoying the experience. The times I used to get were just under 10 mins for a standard 182, nothing exceptional.

My mate on the other hand averages about 8:30 on a clear run and his best is 8:07 on a private day with only 12 cars on track :anbet:

Excellent pic, can't wait to see the rest of your pics, get em up asap! LOL looks like a Nissan Micra right at the back?

My own pics aren't as good as this one as this was a pro photographer and I'm a pants photographer but some of my photos are good. Especially one of the air ambulance landing on the track!

I think it was a polo, I just couldn't shake it off :whistle2:

Did you have a look on the web cam to see if you can spot yourself?

I did the obligatory pose infront of it but cant mind where the pic is lol

Hi Carl, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you on Sunday. My mate ****** his brakes on the saturday after an emergency stop from 150mph, nearly resulting in a mass pile up! He couldn't be bothered to try and get new brake pads on Sunday morning so we spent all day walking to different spectator locations to take photos.

The guy I bought the photo from was Jochen Van Cauwenberge from www.frozenspeed.com

Drop him an email on jochen@frozenspeed.com and tell him what day you were on the track and give hime the make/model/colour of your car and registration number and he'll look through his photos. It's 15 euros per photo.

There's never any pressure on you to go stupid on the ring just go as fast or as slow as you like. It's not all about being the fastest car out there but about enjoying the 14 miles of track and getting home in one peice.

You also have to remember that there are a lot of cars out there that have been caged up and are running bigger brakes and better suspension so there's no shame when you get passed by a car you would normaly outrun on a normal road.

Get yourself over there mate, it'll be the best thing you've done in your car ;)

Nice pictures, Did you nail it the whole way round or just take it easy?

Nice, When i go i dont want something to pack up like the turbo or something so i would properly take it easy and push hard here and there. Wouldnt be so bad if i was to break something in my own country!

Mate dont worry about it because you have a German car in Germany. If something goes there are loads of garages with parts and they will work all weekend too.

When my mate finished of his Ferrodo brake pads we asked the hotel owner if he knew anywhere that could help and some bloke turned up 10 mins later with 6 boxes of different pads

I love that place! Can't wait to take the S3 there. I've been 4 times in the M3. Hoping to give the S3 its debut in August sometime. Doubt it'll be as fun as the M3 was but still an enjoyable weekend. Petrol head heaven out there!

That depends where abouts in England you live!

It takes about 4-5 hours from Calais.

I live and work in the Czech..... I suppose I could combine it with my next drive back. I get the ferry normally from Ijumden... to Newcastle.

Like i said when im old enough im there!
I need to slap myself! (Ive been looking at a 2003 Noggy blue S4...4.2ltr V8 ) Not that id ever get insured but when im 21 i can it would be an animal!
