After all these FMIC threads I've decided to bite the bullet and get a nice forge one at the end of next month.

**insert appropriate got to much money comment (def not the case, lol)**

I need to get the mapping sorted on my car and a new clutch so I thought I'd get it all done at once. Any way, has any one got a pic of one fitted to a S3, prefferably black? I'm debating weather to leave all the grills on, just remove the center one or remove them all? What do people think? I quite like the stealth look but feel obliged to show the fmic off as it costs so much, lol!

Buy it from AwesomeGTI theve got a great deal on Forge FMIC's at the mo....£549.99 inc VAT i think ! :)
Im going to remove the centre bumper grill and leave chrome.

Well without the grill it will standout quite alot. I believe ess_three had his anodised black to be more descreet which is quite a good idea.

I do like the stealth look on cars but i think after seeing pictures of other cars on here with FMIC's im going to have to keep it chrome as it does look cool :)

lol, well, I've just spoken to a guy about some BBS LM's. I've been after a genuine set for AGES and finally found a good deal, think i'm going to buy them before my clutch and fmic :yum:

Thats a very good deal for the forge fmic! I may have to have a word with the bank manager, lol!

i dont understand why you would want an FMIC if you have an MTM turbo?

think it would only be neccasary to remove the middle grill as the pipe work on the foge item is designed to keep the fogs so with out the side grill in there wont be much to show off it will look unfinished and poor, but you probably wont even have to remove the centre grill in all honesty as i have my grill in there and my fmic is still very much on show

The forge item is still alot though even with the discounted offer on

I know there was a previous thread about FMIC's not long back. But im sure that the Forge FMIC is well worth £549.99
If you buy an expensive car you can only expect to pay alot to upgrade things.

Or yeah im not arguing the quality of the forge kit but it still works out over £600 for it.
Could be spent else where thats all.

yea but if you need one then theres no better alternative is there? :uhm:

i have a larger version of forge s3 core on my a3, sprayed black, you dont evan know its there!

I don't think theres any doubt that you can get equally good FMIC setups elsewhere for cheaper. They might need more effort to source and fit though. The Forge kit is an off the shelf "plug and play" item that fits and works. And for that, you pay a premium.

As the likes of Ess_Three and others have previously said, the performance/efficiency/benefit between different FMIC setups is negligible on the S3. Ultimately, you don't have to pay £600/700 for an FMIC kit to get the results you are after..

Where? I would say its probably one of the best mods to do...behind perhaps a map and brakes.

Source a kit yourself for around £300 and then out the other to a remap, brembos etc.

I think he has a stage 2 MTM so a hybrid K04 I believe...

Yea, its the 310 bhp mtm kit. I've bee reading up on hybrid turbo's and it seems like they really need a fmic to reduce heatsoak as there working so hard. The previous owner spent a lot of money on the car, I may as well keep up with the high standards and fit a very good fmic. Buying a core and making them yourself only saves a few hundred quid, I'd preffer to have something that I knows been made and developed for the S3.

I'm hopefully buying some genuine BBS LM's at the end of the month, I managed to find a good seccond hand set at a reasonable price. My S3 with them fitted and a mean looking fmic will make it really look the part!

The trouble is, you always want more power! :racer:

well its a good fmic kit.....as stated before in many threads, the difference between this and a cheaper item will most likely be negligable....your paying Forge for the convenience IMO

Thank you, i've never said the forge kit is crap, tbh i think its agood bit of kit but 1. your paying for the convinence and 2. like said before the difference between forge item and a ebay item would be very hard to tell the difference in terms of gain etc, i know the forge item has been tryed and tested etc.

Yea the Forge kit is good as its a bolt on job and no messing about. Id rather pay more have the good brand and alot less hasle :)

The forge item is way overpriced! I could buy my fmic setup twice, and it still wouldnt be as expensive as Forge's. And the intercooler core is double forge-size:

I'd be careful saying stuff like that on here mate, the Forge fanclub will be along soon to tell you the error of your ways!:whistle2:

agreed vetch..... i dont mind forge stuff as it usually is good quality, but you have to be realistic with what your buying, you might aswel flush the money down the toilet.... you could get one made up by a garage for a lot less and still be as effective as said above..... even if you only save £200...... thats 3 nights out :beerchug:

Its so funny how these threads always turn out!

tis Dani haha....... comon Forge clan, sell me what you've already been sold :tocktock:

Haha your right though.
It feels like the guys who've bought forge fmic try to justify themselfs and sell it to us to reassure themselfs that their not the only ones getting ripped :p

Myself and Dani_B19 are putting a kit together if your interested mate? The more buying power we have, the better discounts we can try and get!

Good idea tbh vetch although i wasnt going to post anything until we'd sourced parts etc because look how mad adamski's group buy went, the poor kid got ripped

I have indeed jumped the gun a little there, sorry Dan mate. We shall take this to PM! Or rather you can PM 1animal1 as Im too lazy!

I love the way all you haters of Forge (well not exactly them but the prices) were not that quick to snap the group buy set up on a cheaper replacement by Adam ?
I reckon you may not be having a fmic in the first place or just waiting for the fmic fairy to put one under yer pillows :)

i really cant see what everyone's problem is on this site its either got to be oem or cheaper then forge, i have made my own intercooler and yes it was cheaper then the forge kit but mainly because of the way i wanted it not because of the cost of the forge item, if we all owned skylines etc a blitz or hks intercooler would easily set you back near on 1k so £600 for an s3 is quite good imo if it was a subtle fmic i wanted id have probably brought the forge item as i havent seen many people make up a decent one keeping the fogs as of yet.

and no im not forges bit on the side either

Even though you have deleted your own post (perk of being a mod), I shall answer your question anyway - it was an attempt at humour, but I don't consider myself part of the MSN/facebook generation so using "lol" or smilies is something I try to avoid.

Look out, Forge's girlfriend is here!

is this humour or a personal attck because I'm not agreeing with you?

ermm if I were using my position as mod I could think of a lot worse to do eh?
and pushing my buttons isn't going to get you anywhere but in trouble.
