Hi I have a Audi A3 2004 non sline and have bought 19" rims. I am looking for some good coilovers just to make the car look good and still keep the comfort in the car. Have a 2.0FSI engine so its not any race matarial. Do you guys have any suggestion of which I should go for.

I am trying to keep it cheap and good at the same time. I lookt for the V-Maxx coilovers and does seams to be very good special on the Golf 5.

Thx

why not just get it lowered on either eibachs or h&r's get decent ride height n good comfort, you can buy the springs alone of springs and dampers, might not be as good as coilovers but will save you a lot of money!!!!

heres mine with 19s on h&r 35 mm drop springs no rubbing springs have been on about a week still some more settling to do i think id love a set of coils but cant afford at the mo im happy with the results of the springs though....

im still waiting for mine to be fitted, what is the ride like on the H&R's did you have to get you wheels laser aligned

I have FK Silverline in my car and they are great and have been for over 40k miles

However, my next car will be getting treated by KW or Eibach - they are a lot more comfortable!

My FK's are comfortable but can be crashy enough but they do surprise people when driven in my car!

no not had them laser aligned it seems fine il probly go to awesome to get it done but the ride is great, better than s lines springs a tad more bouncy but firm you dont get the bang as much like you do off sline springs when you go over a bump ,hole or blue bottle ....lol

But do you have any problems whit the 19s on the rear fender? I am afraid of if I lowering it to 35mm it will touch to much back on the fender (the inner shield already touch the weels when 3persons sitting back on bumps and uneven roads, whit no lowering at all). And whit coilovers I could just make it higher. Did you go for 35mm front and back?

I have ET 47.

Its the H&R 35 MM drop kit for qauttro my wheels are 8.5 wide offset is 45 and 19" theres no rubbing what so ever the back wheels seem to have a slight camber angle inward and misses the linerS EDGE altogether ive had neerly a full car and its fine but with 19 inch i got 225/35/19 not 235 then it may of rubbed because the tire will be a straight wall but because i got 225s the wall slopes away giving more distance between tire and arch im not to good on offsets so maybe yours is slightly better or worse you will have to ask whats better offset 45 or 47

I have et50 - 47 will sit out 3mm further than mine and mine is lowered to the tyre:

But you had to loose all the comfort in that lowering, do you have coilovers or did you change springs and absorbers?

so boydie does that mean 45 offset sticks out more than 47 if so he will be fine then....

Yes mine sticks out 2mm more then yours (sounds disgusting) Yea I did a big misstake when a bought my tires that I dident choose 225. I think A3 have offset 50 that is what you should attempt to come as close as possible to.

But one more question does the sline shock absorbers tolerate more pressure and whold it be the same whit 35mm on a sline as 35mm on a nonsline car? Becuase I think your car looks great you have a very discreet lowering, but still big diffrence from not lowering at all.

the sline shocks are fine mate i cant answer the non sline shock your best send a pm to damien at dpm he will know for sure ....its a 35 mm drop for s line and a 25 mm drop for s3 so if yours is sport i think it will be 45 mm drop from sport springs im not sure how the shocks will handle you best pm dpm or someone on here may be able to answer this question

et45 means there is 45mm of alloy from the hole

anything lower than 50 will stick out further

My ride comfort is not that much harsher than standard sports suspension but im 24 not 54! :p

I run KW V1's on mine, lowest setting at the front and about 20mm from the bottom on the rear.

Running 10mm spacers on the back as well.

Spacers back? What ET do you have on the rims? Does it touch the sheild when your driving on uneven roads whit people back?

If not I think the Sline and non sline cars have a big diffrence in suspensions settings.

Boydie, I think if you have the possibility to make it look good and still keeping the comfort it is the ultimate to do. Your car is looking dam good but I dont think you are doing any longer trips or you will get a hard time. I do travel to much whit my car to ride it like it was a skatebord :p

Eddie, I travelled from the North of Ireland to belfast, got on the boat to Stranraer and drove all the way down to Silverstone, then from Silverstone to Holyhead, got on the boat to Dublin, and then up to Belfast and back up to the North Coast

That was with 5 people in the car and a full boot! Comfortable enough considering the lowerage, car load and distance. I didnt have one worry or pain from driving the car that distance or a complaint from my passengers!

This September, I am driving to Dublin - Holyhead - Northampton - Holyhead - Dublin - Belfast and cannot wait!
