Well i put my car in Saturday past and im hoping to get it back tomorrow.. I really miss my car :( Been driving a stupid Kia Sorento Diseasle and now a 1.2 Corsa.. Here's hoping i dont have any issues like some have had!

i found a very small amount on mine last week and when it went to audi for the MOT I asked them to look at it. Now ive got to go to VW huddersfield as they do the bodywork for the group but the guy said there was no problem :)

mine has bubbled up as well do i just go into audi or phone them and they will sought it is it that easy or do i call them up first

just show up at your local audi. tell them your enquiring about the anti corrosion warranty. then most probably they'll send someone down to have a look at it, take down ya details then they'll get back to you to let you know if its been approved or not!

Well i got the S3 back on Saturday and i'd say im fairly happy.. They done more than what they needed to i.e. is was in just for the roof but as the guy said he managed to get the side panel done also.. Only thing is there's a small scratch on the roof and also on the bump strip thing on the door.. The guy said he'll speak to the workshop manager tomorrow and give me a shout.. All in all im pretty happy to be honest!

I should probably look under the door sill things now!

Does anybody know how to remove the strip between the roof and quarter panel?
My car had been resprayed and i didn't get it on warranty, and i would like to remove this to check how badly it has rusted.

It should just pull out but be careful because if you bend it, it wont sit back in again properly and you'll end up with water getting under it. Mine didn't go in under warenty so i'm having it done privately in a month. Bought a new roof strip for about £30 from the stealers.

mine goes in tomorrow also, dreadin how its going to come back listening to these horror stories

mines going in to body shop tomorrow, audi said YES!!! i went to watford audi, he said they have had 2 so far and both have been fixed.

Sounds like ill be taking mine down to there then :)

Phoned Watford Audi today and once again i was disappointed by audi customer care:

Firstly they tried fobbing me off by saying the warranty is for 10 years NOT 12, but went quiet after i said that my a3 is first registered in septmber 99 :).

Then they started asking all kind of question about were i bought it from, didn't think it made a difference?

Anyways going to take it to them next week sometime to get it inspected. But im not very confident about it.

Mines going in on monday at newbury, I asked the warranty advisor and he told me it was a well known problem! i only have a problem on 1 side but they are doing both as he said it would more than likely happen there too. He said they have had 7 or 8 with the same problem just at newbury. I think he told me it was to do with the welding?
good luck mate

i seen this post while trying to diagnose a problem with my Audi, rung Audi finchley road, got an appointment on tuesday is there anything i should know in case they throw up issues (like the time period 12 years) mines a 98 plate and the paint is bubbleing on the roof

from what they where saying at the body shop, is that audi tell them to do a quick fix, and the rust will come back! couple of yrs and u will see it again, have to ask yourself wats the point of having it down! ok yes it will get worse but then once it coems back then u will have to pay for it to be done and then get it done like audi should be and that aint going to be cheap!

well mine went in on tuesday. not got it back yet but fingers crossed when i do, the job will be a good one! got given a 58plate A4 1.8T not a bad car, got all the mod cons but feels really slow and heavy in comparison to the S3

mine went in tues said they want it for 10days, how long they having yours for ? i got a rubbish 58plate cor'sir sxi!!!! well i know who got the bad deal there then!

Mine went in this morning at newbury audi, hope they do a good job! hinds20v i see your car there and it appears they've done a better job this time:icon_thumright:

They've got my car booked in all week, meanwhile I'm driving a Beautiful champagne Skoda fabia tdi (i've brought a pair of dark glasses and fake tash so alls good!)

Good thread this guys, glad I seen it as I noticed a small patch on the roof gutterings when I was cleaning it yesterday.

Are the dealers who accept to do the work supplying you with courtesy cars?

:)

A main dealer should give you a courtesy shed I mean courtesy car.

like i've already said i've been given a 58plate A4 1.8T with all the mod cons so not all the dealers are giving "sheds" so ya mite get lucky.

mine went in last tuesday and still aint got it back yet. was told id get it back friday. missing it sooo much!

Pretty sure you should always get a car, Me and hinds20v have both got skoda's

Well got the car back today and i have to say that i'm more than impressed with the outcome. Car looks great and its come back washed and polished and even been given a tyre shine treatment.

Big thumbs up to audi on this one!!

Result!.

I was very appy with mine when Birmingham Audi sent it off for the roof treatment. It did come back and was below standard but I got a call telling me not to bother coming to pick it up and I'll get a call when it comes back again.

Cant fault them, it seems to me that there is a HUGE difference from dealer to dealer which is rubbish really. All our cars are Audi's and all the dealers are Audi dealers....if one or two can do it without having a fit then they all should.

i noticed a small bubble on the roof off my a3 when i purchased it around 4 weeks ago and thought i'd have to pay for it to be done privately, but now after reading this i will be taking it to audi on saturday as i'm booking in it's next service and enquiring about it then so hopefully all will go well! will be taking it to docklands audi as all the previous services were done there and my local audi at chingford didnt seem to be to helpful to a few other people on here!

AS3TOM; Glad to hear that mate about your car. Gives me confidence in taking mine to Preston Audi. I will be going this friday day to enquiry about my car

Hello All,

I got my 2001 S3 rusty roof work approved by reading audi. Can anyone who has had the work done advise if there are any logical extra pannels that I could have painted at extra cost that make sense? Do they just spray the roof and rear panels? I thought someone on the thread was offered a full respray for extra.....

cheers

Brian

they just spray then patch where they have rubbed down to remove rust, then paint over that, blow in colour to blend in, then laqure roof and rear 1/4's .
with a trained eye u will always see the blend, but most people cant, so should worry too much. the only way to stop this is to paint whole car, which then comes in to big moneys.
could get them to do roof and rear 1/4's, that way u would get a better blend, or even just down C pillar and blend on to rear 1/4. at the end of the day unless you have scratches on roof or 1/4s not much point chances are you will never no!

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask is because I have a little parking dent in my rear wheel arch and I was wondering if they might fix that as part of the blending.

Also I have a really scruffy plastic insert on my rear bumper, I was thinking of having my rear bumper painted and the audi bodyshop said they can paint the plastic insert at the same time. I'm not too sure about this, can anyone advise who has had this done or seen a colour coded one? mine is a 2001 S3.

thanks
Brian

was cleanning out my boot today and found rear1/4 bump strips in there!!! they must have broken them when removing them, so fitted new ones. meaning they painted the whole rear 1/4! which they normaly wouldnt do.

Took mine to Preston Audi Friday, the Audi guy said its a common problem for A3/S3 on the roof guttering. Audi said they will let me know in the next few weeks.

AS3TOM; Which panels did they spray to sort out your car?
