About to get a Parrot kit fitted and wondered if anyone had some good suggestions/photos etc of where to position the LCD screen ?

Cheers

I fitted mine myself.. Quite easy to be honest..

I mounted the bracket upside down above the 'coin' tray under the climate control unit etc. Then the screen slides ontop and thanks to the spinning back on it sits the right way up.

Don't have any pics am afraid. I will try and get some later if you want?

Seemed like a good idea to me, as all the cables are hidden and if I switch cars you wont be able to see the sticky mark.

Cheers

Which model Parrot?

I have the 6100... and a mate who managed to fabricate some custom mounts to avoid drilling/sticking stuff on the dash - fitment pic's below:

Really pleased with the centre console piece - paint match is perfect so looks very OEM!
As for the car kit, it's pretty good, intuitive and can even pick up the music tracks on my phone and play them through the car stereo (sound quality isn't bad either!!!). Would recommend it!

I have the same kit :)

I dont have the cig lighter in mine, I have a hinged flap so I stuck my control on there.. Knowing the lids are cheap should I want to replace the car.

He's done a very good job though, I like the vent mount :)

I went with the steering-wheel-controller and the Evolution 3000, so there was no fabrication needed... -just shove the mic somewhere handy and you're off!

This sounds good - if you get a chance post a pic up pls - ta !

Wow that looks really OEM, get you friend to nock some more up and im sure people on here will buy.

what does a parrot kit actually do ....???

talks to you & makes strange inappropriate noises as well as flapping a little, well thats what the one in my van does.

Its basically a aftermarket bluetooth kit that runs through the cars stereo, though the one pictured above can stream music from anything that is ADP2 (think thats the term) compatible i.e. bluetooth mobile phone.

A parrot is a bluetooth car kit, with the one pictured above - you also get bluetooth audio streaming, so you can play your MP3's through your stereo speakers. Etc

Can the parrot display via the DIS and use the MFSW?

Another one with the 6100 - v.pleased with it too.

Love the installs Mike and Jamie - very neat!

I've got the remote on the steering wheel and the screen mounted on the left of the dash - no where near as neat as Mike and Jamie.

I've got the external mics mounted in front of the instrument cluster which do the job nicely.

Thanks for the comments

I also found 'jamming' the mic stand under the instrument cluster worked a treat
:arco:

I ideally want to route the cable down the back of the coin tray but I can't figure out how to get to it

Anywho, I am happy with it for now

Just had my kit taken out the Golf, i can let you have a look at mine and have a wee play about with it.

And at long last my car i here, should get it back end of this week or early next:yes::happy:

Thanks matey, quite like the look of it down there although I don't have the non-smoking pack so not sure it will work.

Ashamed to say i don't know which model it is as it's through my work - will check this out tomorrow.

Thanks Neil but going to have a look at one of the other guys at work who has it installed in his Beamer tomorrow.

Although I can get it foc I'm already having second thoughts as I like a nice tidy cabin and not sure it's something I really need !

I sound nuts, I know !

Not at all, i'm the same..

Just ordered a hard wire kit for my sat nav kit so no wires hanging about...

I've got one in my A3, don't rate them at all to be honest.

When they work they are great, but now and again they will answer the call and get no audio, and my phone then gets confused. This happens on all the phones I use with it.

I'd sooner use it normally and hide behind my tints.

Looking very very good indeed!
GF has 6100 installed on her 2nd car but I find it suffers badly from road noise - particularly on motorway. Makes the conversation sound 'muffled'. (admitedly 17" runflats probably dont help!). My Audi GSM bluetooth sounds much better. Just wondering how you find the 6100?
And how annoying is the robotic speech!!

Cheers mate.

Yeah, somes times, on poorly surfaced stretches of motorway people find it hard to hear me, but on the whole it ain't that bad. It's more to be legally compliant than to have non stop conversations wehn ever i'm in the car.
Robotic voice is brilliant - change mates names to profanities like.. well, prob's best tno to repeat on here, but some classic lines from South Park, Team America etc spring to mind.... anyway, never fails to ammuse me.

Ive got the ck3100. small enough to fit in the front ashtray, fits perfect, easy to get to, and no one knows ive got one when the lid is down :)

Excellent install jamiekip and just what I'm looking for, any chance you can get hold of some more brackets, mine has the Cig lighter too.

Do you mean you're interior is the same as mine, or different in the centre console?
If it's different, take a pic and PM to me.
I can have a chat with my mate, though I know he's up to his neck working on projects for GTI Inter's

Spin - when are you looing to get your Parrot kit?
Have spoken with my mate, and he's worked out an easier way to make the moulds..... he's got his hands full until GTi Inters, but could sort something out for you. He's borrowing an S3 soon to take the mould shapes again.... let me know if you deffo want the brackets and I'll put you in touch :)

I've got a 3100 in which I have mounted in a similar position to Mike_sel but its offset to the drivers side. I have the microphone mounted above the rear view mirror
