:shrug:Do you think if they ever got to the late 90s they'd use an S4? I suppose they probably plump for an escort or sierra cosie....

sierra cossies ran mid 80s to 92ish, escorts 93 - 97, s4 was like 97-98 on really werent it

as cool as the S4 is, i dont think it has the same iconic cult following as the cortina and quattro, so i agree, if it goes into the 90s it will probably be something like a cossie.

the S4 is a very understated car in my opinion, which makes it all the more cooler.

Mid 90's could only mean this!

2000-onwards you can bet your butt it would end up being a TT.

I think S4s, RS4s etc. are unlikely unless someone on the production team is a hardcore Audi nut, but the TT would almost be a cliche.

Late 80's to 90's it would just have to be a Saphire Cosworth, understated but able to pull your head off and shove it up your bum. lol

Love Ashes to Ashes, even bought the box set of the 1st Series.

^^^Agreed. Nice example that cossie. Mostly the same colour as my old XR4x4 too!

I prefered the Sapphire to the hatch, am i right in saying the XR4x4 only came in hatch? and the Cossie was only in the saloon?

Aye, I believe that's true. I think they made the xr4x4 right to 93. The one above is an old '88 2.8i...

XR4x4 was 5 door hatch only (although with 3 different engines, 2.0 4 cylinder, 2.8 V6 and 2.9 V6), the Sierra Cosworth was available as (*ahem*);

RS Cosworth (3 door hatch)
RS500 Cosworth (3door hatch)
Saphire RS Cosworth (saloon 2WD)
Saphire RS Cosworth (saloon 4WD)
Rouse 302 Saphire RS Cosworth (saloon 2WD)
Rouse 304 Saphire RS Cosworth (saloon 4WD)

Then you're on to the Escort varities but that's another chapter.

It's worth mentioning the Ghia 4X4 Estate, with the 2.8 V6 and then the 2.9 V6. Turbo Technics did a very naughty twin turbo conversion for this and the XR4x4.

In some ways I preferred the estate, for "what the f was that?" moments...

just watched it and think why didn't I pay more attention to these motors?

A bloke near me had a rouse 500 saphire when I was a lad, kinda Maroon colour. I used to think that even standing still it looked 150mph!! A true classic. I think though a fine S4 or RS4 just looks some much more, gonna rip yer heed aff if ye think ye can git wan ower me! rough geezer in the bar type look. (Scottish acent optional)

G'an the B5.

Rouse Cosworths were either 302 or 304. The 300 part was to denote the 300ft/lb of torque and the 2 or 4 whether the car was 2 or 4 wheel drive.

The 500 was a homologation special for racing and denotes the number of road going units required for the car to eligible for motorsport. This ran a larger T4 turbo, huge intercooler and an inlet manifold housing 8 fuel injectors. This engine was only ever in the 3 door.

Also, it had an additional bootlid lip spoiler, grilles instead of the foglamps and was only released in Diamond White or Black. 227bhp instead of 204.

I require one with immediate effect.

Hmmm maybe it wasn't a 500 then... still made my jaw drop! Yes it would be fun.. I still think the Sierra was a very very comfy car. Maybe I'm just getting a bit squidgy for my old knackered seats!

Mate, your seats may be knackered but at 240k you ought to keep on going until your car reaches Grade Two listed status and the National Trust take it over.

lol. Aye, if I'm lucky i'll get one of those brown signs pointing to my driveway, you know that one that list point of interest and historical sites...
incidently, It'll 242k this weekend...
