remaps

in this world you get what you pay for.
I personally wouldn't buy any chips on eBay unless they came with salt and vinegar

I have used Chipped Uk, Ok for generic maps.

That ECU evolution seem knowledgable as i have spoken to them regarding doing my car for me. The £99 postal map is a good idea, but bare in mind that it will not clear any existing faults and will put slightly more strain on existing components and as such once the mapped ECU is fitted and faults that pop up ( if any) would need to eliminated via email or phone. For the saving and adding the fact i have spoken to ECU evo i would take the chance for the saving

im gona go with MRC Tuning(oxford) amazing write ups about them. Nez check them out www.mrctuning.com if you want your S4 done, doug specialises in the S4 and RS4

I check them and they are good but the price is very expensive I can custom remap my S4 with chipUK for £250 :) but thats only for me as I get a special discount normal price for this service is £500 same as mrctuing and with ChipUk I get 315 BHP increase :) so what is the difference :uhm:

My friend used ecu evolution for his 1.8t passat and they had problems with the map they used. they tried a couple of times but no joy but at least he had a refund from them, but he went to them not postal.
In the end he went to chippeduk with me.

I'm getting mine done at MRC beginning of June. Can't wait..

I have read and been tempted by the £250 chip 'n spin offer which has been bandied around this here site, the only thing I am unsure of is the limitations of my ECU. I know that with certain ECUs it requires the soldering in of a replacement chip with a replacement map, rather than being able to remap the exsisting chip.

My car is pre-facelift, but the engine cover is the later "20v Turbo" design, if that means anything. Does this mean I have a PITA ecu?

I'm at work so can't raid the car for part numbers etc, but could do with a knowledge transplant....

From what i've heard from some people on this forum i'd be avoiding chippeduk, especially on an S4, as its a VERY expensive engine to fix when they **** it up.

Not sure if yours needs soldering in but mine was a facelift tqs and had to be soldered but after reading other reviews of chippeduk that had soldered chips in i thought i would use them.
I didnt want anyone who hadn't done it before. Not sure but i think the chips are harder to get now?
Very happy with it/them

Hmm. So maybe pre-facelift like mine is a non-soldering job?

Yours is deffo a soldering job, The very early '96's are the unavaiable chip, the later ones like yours, mine and Griswolds are currently still available. We are trying to find a compat flashable ECU to combat this as i type

Totally agree.

They get slated by all the Vauxhall forum members who use them too.

I certainly wouldn't send my S4 to them,....................wouldn't touch them with a barge pole in fact.

personal preference mate, all the boys on AudiSRS have had alot of cars done by them and they also fix alot of S4's that have been fuked by **** maps and chips so they seem to be the boys for the job.

im on a tight budget aswel mate but im just gona save that little bit more for the MRC remap, its not all about gettin more power.

who ever you go with though let me know how it goes.
