Roof rack for A3 3 Door

Has anybody fitted a roof rack to there A3? I need one for my bike but dont know what to go for? Genuine Audi or after market? has anybody got any pics of theres on the car? Cheers

Yes, I have the thule bars on my S3 for carrying my mountain bike, they work well.

I was told by the local audi dealer that audi has stopped producing roof bars for the a3, he said that they were damaging the cars. I've no idea if this is actually true or just dealer spouting rubbish.

do yours just sit on the roof in the groves? how do you clamp the one on the rear windows?

There are some arrows on the rear glass to indicate the position and the its a matter of slipping the rack underneath the window seal. You'll soon see once you look.

I've bought a rack for mine, I'll check the make tonight but it cost about £80. And is compatible with Thule bike racks etc. I did read somewhere that the Audi one wasn't compatible with Thule stuff.

My stealers told me the same too mate.

THULE are good but tres expensive.

I've got Thule roof bars with Halfords Bike carriers. Whoever owned my A3 previously has had roof bars on and it has scratched the roof slightly but a good polish hides most of it. I have to be careful when fitting/removing/using mine.
